Yes, I received our first samples yesterday. Opens up a whole new wireless world for those with older BeoLab speakers, with the exception of BeoLab 5s...
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
There is a tv - and there is a BV
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
???
I guess you mean that the BM5 should be able to act as a WiSA transmitter!? To allow wireless connection to the speakers.
Please tell me why you mention 'shareport4w', which is a 'receiver' (an AirPlay emulator) , that can be installed on a pc (and perhaps on the BM5).
One thing is sending sound from - the other thing is receiving an AirPlay stream.
WiSA needs hardware to work. And that hardware could easily be built into the BM5 - if B&O wanted to do so.

You mean to replace the MasterLink???
Too bad it needs its own power cable. Can't they make a splitter or some device that makes it able to tap into the power already running to the Beolab speaker.
Edit: It even needs a power adaptor. They could have made it slightly bigger and built it in (think Apple TV). That is a mess of cables and small black plastic boxes, difficult to hide.
Imagine you have only one power outlet by the speaker - the other one is meters away!
Ok - we could use a twin adaptor - but that looks kinda weird in most cases.
My Dealer told me, that it is not for multi room use, meaning the Transmitter 1 with Master Video/Audio in one room, a set of speakers with BL Receivers in another is not possible. You know something about, is this correct?
Kind regards,
Rolf
What a shame they did not spend more time on the design - should have been a nicely designed box inserted between the power cable and the speaker with a power cable for the speaker and the speaker cable combined into a single Y cable. I do not doubt its function but it looks as though it has come from Maplin.

The boxes will not know nor care if they are in another room than the transmitter or not. But how would you control the system from the room where the speakers are? The whole concept is not intended to be a wireless Masterlink replacement, but more a wireless replacement for a simple Powerlink cable.

That's a great point for BeoLab speakers, but I think it would create a problem for using it with an external amplifier like Receiver 1, ML/MCL Converter, or a non-B&O solution to passive speakers where you need line-of-sight receiver connected to a hidden amp. Or did I miss something?

I understood from the explanation that it should be controllable with an IR eye. Looking at the unit, you´re right, it cannot be controlled separately.
I am not sure that it would have been better, if the had 'designed' the case.
After all it is small and quite discrete - and it has to be there if we want wireless PL with our older apeakers.
But they certainly should have put the power supply into it, and have made an outlet for power to the speaker in it too - (just like with some of the BL7-4's).
Question:
Can you use it to connect to the BL Passive (or the ML/MCL converter) as an amp for passive speakers?
It is a single channel (left or right) - and for the BL Passive (as an amp) you need both channels in one 'cable'.
So probably not!
Thanks for that information!
The BL2, allright - but not any other passive speaker/'amp'-combo.
In those cases we will have to stick to the good old MK2 cable.
Unless someone makes a DIY adapter, that combines right and left channel from the PL-outs of the Receiver 1 into one PL cable
