Hi,

Can anybody tell me if there is any way that the BS8 [not A8] can be used wirelessly i.e. can I sit in my room and search, select and change tracks from my armchair with my iPhone5 or MacBook in the same way as I would be able to with the A8?

Thanks in advance,

Des

You could connect a playmaker.

Just search the forum

Yeah, using Airfoil Speakers Touch: http://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/ios/

This is an app for your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch which enables you to stream content to your iPhone/iPad/Touch from another device, such as your MacBook or another iOS device. Basically, it sets up your BS8 as an AirPlay speaker.

I use this if I want to stream controllable content from my MacBook Pro.

You can also use a Bluetooth 30 pin adapter, like this:

Beovision 10-46, Beocenter 1, Beo 4, Beocom 4, Beolit 12, Beosound 4, Beosound Essence, Beolab 6000

Hi Vermeer,

The Bluetooth 30 pin adaptor looks too good to be true. The short video on their website is very good. Do you have any personal experience or anecdotes with this product? If it is as good and simple as it looks it makes one wonder why anyone would swap a BS8 for an A8 with the attendant cost involved.

Hi Des,

you have to consider that sound quality with bluetooth streaming is not very good, WLAN streaming is much better. Bluetooth is good enough in cars, but not at home. Another point is that bluetooth works only with short distances.

But probably it's worth a try.

One point for you, dear MM!

But few years ago I connected a bluetooth receiver to my BS 9000. Sound quality was like 10 kbps, easy to hear with a 'hearing damage'!😉

Re airfoil speakers touch.

Currently testing this but it doesn't seem to work streaming from an ios device, just from a computer with airfoil installed. Is this correct?

that would make it far less useable.

Then extend your wireless network with and airport express, connect airport express audio out to BS8 using a 3.5 to male RCA cable.  Using ios or itunes, distribute music via airplay.  Total cost, about $115 US.
