Hello everybody,
what do you think will happen to the value of vintage or close to vintage Bang and Olufsen equipment like the Beosystem 7000? Will the trend to digitalize reduce the market price of such systems or will its value rise in the future due to it being something special and becoming more and more scarce in sufficiently good condition? What do you think?

It depends on a few things:
Will FM radio be available?
Cassette are still alive but not in the general public
Vinyl are plenty
CD are plenty
Otherwise supply and demand. If its in great condition and fully working then there is a chance that it will still ad some degree of value.
I would have thought the value will go up as digital sources are easy to integrate via airplay or similar or directly connected. Sound Quality is still better than anything else you could get for the money new and likely there will always be someone who wants to hear records.The vintage stuff still looks good after all these years anyway.
Good question, and to answer a question with another question why are Reel to Reel Tape Deck prices buoyant ?, as this technology is totally redundant.
Vinyl sales are on the increase year on year, FM transmission are here; UK until at least 2018 with no firm switch over date announced and Apple's Airport Express works wonders as already mentioned.
In my eyes prices should steadily rise; like Dieter Rams Braun systems, as they become design icons to the common man. I wonder what current range may become classics in 10 or so years time.
style and good design never dates...
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
