I have a BeoMaster 3300 purchased back in the 80s. I bought the set: BeoMaster 3300, BeoCord 3300, BeoGram CD 3300, 2x ,RL 60.2 Loudspeakers Plus stands, and the Remote controller.
I recall early on (within a 2 yr period) the BeoGram CD 3300 stopped working, and I had it repaired.
The Beomaster 3300 + speakers have been in use over the last 35 yrs without any issues.
The BeoGram CD and the BeoCord have been boxed up for past 35 yrs, and last week decided to give them the light of day.
This is what happened when I try using/operating the CD and Cassette player.
1) BeoGram CD 3300: The CD spins up its rotation briefly and then abruptly spins down and stops.I've opened the bottom casing and all the wonderful Danish electronic wizardry is exposed and looks pristine. However, I have absolutely no clue how to proceed to figure out what's wrong. Any suggestions are most welcomed. I did remove the circuit board above the laser unit, and all looked good, but of course I dunno what to look for.
2) BeoCord 3300: I place a cassette into its position and Start playing and nothing happens. I've opened up the bottom casing and found the drive belts are just a sticky black gooey mess. So I assume this is the reason nothing happens. I've ordered a new BeoCord 3300 drive belt kit from a UK site and hope with the kit I can get things going again. I also have obtained an original BeoCord 3300 Service manual off eBay... so hopefully with the new drive belt kit and the service manual I get things working again.
3) FYI... In past month I have also been able to pickup a B&O 1800 turntable with an MMC3 cartridge that had been tested. It works very well using a DIN adapter with my BeoMaster 3300. The 1800 has RCA two wires and a grounding wire. I could not see where to connect the ground wire to the BeoMaster 3300 unit, so simply loosened one of the screws on the back of the BeoMaster 33000 and attached the ground wire to it and tightened down the screw. So far I've not had any issues playing records on the 1800 hooked up this way.
As an aside, I also have in the last month been able to pickup a nice BeoMaster 4500 system with its BeoGram 4500 turntable, BeoGram Cord 4500, BeoGram CD 4500, 2x RL 60.2 Loudspeakers + stands, and the very heavy long Remote control, all for a very reasonable price off Craigslist. Also a full set of B&O literature, and User manuals for the 4500 system.
1) The BeoMaster 4500 works with really no significant issues at all - except for changing radio for AM & FM stations, and radio frequencies...(see 6 below)
2) The BeoGram 4500 turntable works well.
3) The BeoGram CD 4500 works wonderfully well.
4) The BeoCord 4500 runs/plays the cassette but produces no sound at all.
5) The RL speakers are awesome and are in good condition.
6) I note that I have to use the 4500's Remote to be able to select AM and FM, and to set radio frequencies on the BeoMaster 4500 unit. I cannot do this directly on the BeoMaster 4500 touch panel as indicated in the User manual. I also note that my BeoMaster 3300's remote also works for the BeoMaster 4500... Niceeee.
So, where should I look to try and figure out what's wrong with the BeoCord 4500 ?
Thanks for any help.
CD3300; Replace capacitors on the servo board. The correct belts for Beocords, Beogram record decks etc. can be found at Beoparts-shop, as can the capacitor kit for the CD3300 servo, capacitor refresh kits for the speakers and many other parts.
If the Beocord 4500 is silent and shows full VU-deflection, there are one or two capacitors to replace. Also available at Beoparts-shop - not in the webshop though, but just ask for it.
Martin
Thank you very much.... will view all the B&O spares.
Do you think the Capacitor Kit that is compatible with my BeoGram CD 3300 would solve the issue I've described for it ? That is, the disc spins up and with a very short time spin back down and stops rotating.
This Capacitor Kit is available at Beoparts-shop -> https://www.beoparts-shop.com/product/capacitor-kit-for-cdm-disc-drive-servo-beogram-cd-beocenter/

It does so in 95% of the cases, so in my opinion it would definitely be the place to start.
OK... Thanks. . I've order the Capacitor Kit, and somehow when ordering it decided to ship two of the kits! Not sure what happened, but I decided to leave things alone and wait for the kit(s) to arrive.
I assume VU mean Volume Unit for measure volume signal level, right ?
Martin:
I replaced all the capacitors supplied in the Beoparts-shop's Capacitor Kit and the BeoGram CD player still acts the same way. That is, it spins up for a few seconds displaying "1 .| ", and then spins back down with " |. ?" shown in red and stops. It looks like a question mark ? to me.
Do you have any further advice for trying to figure out the issue ? Thank You.
Can we see your work please (front/back of servo board)? If you're sure, you did a good job, check the ribbon cable that goes to the laser block.Particularly where it goes around a sharp bend sandwiched by the plastic holder. It can break leads there if you inadvertently pulled the cable when disassembling the servo PCB from the drive.
Also check solder joints in the power supply areas.
- and of course make sure the laser lens is clean.
What is best procedure for cleaning the lens ? Thanks...
I feel good about installing the new capacitors, and will check them carefully again.
Will followup with photo images of back and front sides of the circuit board.
I did check the ribbon cable for breaks, but will check again, as well as the solder joint near power supply.

I've checked all the new solder joints, the ribbon cable for breaks, cleaned laser lens, and the power supply solder connections. They are all in excellent shape.
Hey.... BeoGram CD 3300 player... How can the laser lens cover removed so that the lens can be carefully cleaned ? Thanks.
When my BeoGram CD 3300 stops the disc spinning, there's a clear sound of a 'click'. This appears to me to be some form of a limiting factor at play resulting in a mechanical sound clicking - off. What can be the cause of the clicking sound I wonder ?
Looking for more help in resolving this issue with my BeoGram CD 3300 player. Any help is most welcomed. Thanks.
Any further advice on how to resolve this spin-up, spin-down, and stop issue is much appreciated. Thanks.
