Dear Beoworlders.
What is a reasonable price for a Beocenter 9500 and a pair of beovox 60.2 in grey/white? The condition is not mint but in very good overall.
How long is a piece of string? Are you buying or selling? It makes a big difference!
Some of it will depend on where you are and where you try to buy/sell them. I wouldn't be happy any more buying a BC9000 series and having it shipped as the glass is more often than not broken and I've had other problems with them being broken in transit.
Having said that, If everything works (CD and tape doors, tape player and CD operate as they should etc) I'd take a guess at anywhere between 300 - 450 EUR for the BC9500. The Beovox 60.2 - there's a pair on eBay with no bids at £80 and another at £199, another at £295 and another at £19 without a single bid. I think the white ones are more rare/desirable but a price for them is mere guesswork in the current market.
If you're buying you want them for as little as possible and if selling, as high a price as possible!
Dave.
Dear Dave,
Thank you for your answer. I am looking to buy this set and it is not far away from my home. I can pick it up by car. The seller wants about 350£ for it. It seems to be a fair deal then.
Thanks again.
Get them to demonstrate that it all works OK before you buy it. Also, does it come with a remote - BEO4 or Beolink 1000?
Test for CD loading and playing, tape and radio functions. If you collect it, that would be perfect.
350 EUR sounds OK.
Do the speakers come with stands? That's another plus point. You may be able to negotiate down a bit depending on condition. The CD can be a problem area but is usually easily rectified by a capacitor replacement - big topic on Beoworld.
Let us know how you get on.
I bought the system yesterday, and it sounds good. The cd door seems to need a new drive belt because it get stuck some times and dose not glide smoothly. Other then that no problem and I must say that the Redline in white is really cool.
No stands unfortunately but I have wall brackets to them and I also got a beolink 1000 in good condition.
New belt for the door is normal. Hopefully it will give you some years of pleasure.
Thank you Dave,
Dave Farr: New belt for the door is normal. Hopefully it will give you some years of pleasure. Dave.
Not always Dave, could be other things like string/rope that might be twisted or slippery, or cd door that needs to be cleaned and greased.
Brengen & Ophalen
Rubber belt of that age is invariably stretched or perished - therefore 'normal'. Although, as you rightly say, it could also be another item at fault. Until it's looked at, the reason is unknown.
There are no rubber belts operating the doors. They use string. easy fix. Needs a service.
There is , the motor with rubber belt drives an axe that slides the door via strings.
Thank you all for your comments.
I will disassemble the BC9500 later this week and let you know how it goes.
In case you haven't noticed the warning before... DO NOT let the glass panels fall off and break when you flip the top open! They are attached to the frames with double sided tape, which is already very weak at this age.

And make sure the CD door is in closed position.
