Hi all,

I have bought a bv7 with a faulty dvd player. I am going to save up to fix the drive, in the meantime do I buy a dvd1 or another brand to get on with?  I am asking this because if the dvd1 doesnt work correctly with the bv7 having a built in dvd player then i am wasting my cash.  Also are the dvd1's getting on a bit so reliability could be an issue?

your thoughts please

Thanks Nick

I would get a cheap other brand - you can probably get a Blu-ray player for less than a DVD1. Get the right one and you can probably work it using a PUC.

Thank you Peter, I do want to get my internal one fixed at some point. I did think about blu ray players, i need to work out how to connect it to the bv7 as the sky box is using the dvi socket.

You can use this:

http://www.buy.com/prod/3-port-hdmi-switch-splitter-for-hdtv-1080p-1-3/216544962.html

On the dvi port of the BV plug this:

Done.

No, unfortunately no. I use it as a cheap solution for my BV7, You select one of the 3 ports (for me new ATV, HD set top box, BR player), manually via a button. Piece of cake. (and on budget!)
