Hi Guys,

I am considering adding a sub to my current set up, Beosound 9000, Lab 6's & Lab 8's, Beovision 3. Does anyone have any experience with the lab 2 & lab 11, reading about them the lab 2 is punchy bass whereas the lab 11 is more subdued, anyone any advice or input is appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

When I sold my 11, I didn't even notice it was gone to be honest. When I mated the 8000/6000/2 together one of my doors almost came off its hinges. Great fun.

Different speakers, doing the same job to different levels of subtlety.

Beolab 2=Scrumpy rough cider 8%

Beolab 11=Miller lite!

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Brilliant, made me laugh, 8% cider got to be more fun, 2nd hand you can spend about 1k and get either, I'd always fancied a 2 but as I had seen a couple of 11's for similar money wanted some more advice, got what i was after, 2 it is, 1 reply is all i needed to confirm what I think I already knew, cheers........

There are plenty of stores where you can listen to the differences. Make sure you spend plenty of time using material you would listen to as well. Then get advice on the correct settings for placement positions, especially with the 2.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

I always thought my BL2 purchase was one of my better B&O deals... even though I bought mine new.  It really helped round out the sound my BL8000s (Mk1), and now provides a subtle low end to my BL1s.  I don't know why it doesn't get more respect around here.  I have always really enjoyed mine.

I do recommend you spend some time with the placement and settings or else it can sound "slow and boomy" (which I suppose is why it doesn't get more respect around here :) ).  I don't really have any advice other than take some time and experiment.  I also think there may be some resonant frequencies inherent to the passive "drivers" that might mess up some electronic music - KillyP once pointed me to a song by Massive Attack that did make the BL2 sound less than ideal, but I don't run into this in my normal listening.

Having owned a BL2 and now two BL11s, I disagree with Chris, slightly. The BL11 does make a difference, but it's subtle. I'd say a 15% improvement to the overall bass. I have one connected to the BL3s and another with my BV11. When I listen to electronic music, the BL11 improves the clarity of the BL3s as it takes some of the bass from the BL3s. Overall, a better sound experience.

However, it's subtle. The BL2 is way more powerful for movies and explosions. Too much so. Rocked my room.

Have you considered a BL19? Might be a good half-way-house? Not as subtle as the BL11, but not quite as mental as the BL2?

I can fully second Stan having an identical combination. The BL2 has tremendous power and reserve. However, you realise that a lot of today's CDs and MP3 files especially are poorly boosted at the bass end resulting in boomy sound.

I recently received a few INAKUSTIK CDs, where you can experience real soundcraftmanship. The BL1 / BL2 combination shines with very crisp bass and sound across the entire range.

About 2 years ago I tested a BL11 in a different setting. Although it rounded out the sound picture, I prefer BL2 if you want to boost the low end.
