I was setting up my old BV5 with its Beocenter 2 in a new room location and couldn't help feeling that both the BV5 and BC2 were suddenly looking so bulky and heavy in comparison with the BV11. They have suddenly become decidedly old fashioned in appearance.

2 or 3 years ago I was more than happy with the look of the BV5 and it always drew complimentary remarks whether switched on or off, but I think that the BV10 and 11 designs were master strokes for B&O as they still managed to differentiate their equipment in an all flat/ slim TV world.

What should we expect next in TV and HiFi fashion? Projectors and hidden speakers?

I think as OLED eventually comes to a reliable fruition, the panels will eventually be bonded to your wall like thickish wallpaper. Speakers like the 12-3 will then come to fore.

The new 4K TV by Sony this year are a wedge design so as to make their gloating speakers better. Comes with a wireless subwoofer! Are other makes going to concentrate on this area making it a new tech battlefield? Good to know other things are also getting fatter as they mature :-/

why do most manufactures have such bland TV designs, they know that 90% of them sold will over power any room so why not put some thought into the concept and use it as a manufactures statement.

with present technology a big black panel is always going to be conspicuous.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

Fashionable to me is something placed in plain sight, on purpose, and above all - designed to do so. Things that fit this description are the BV5, BV9 (my personal favorite), BeoPlay V1.

If I was looking for a roll-on-wall screen and flush mounted speakers I wouldn't shop at B&O.

I think what B&O has done with their large TVs is very admirable. While bulky, they are all very well designed and don't need to be as thin as possible to remain desirable.
