Hi,
Sorry for creating a new thread when I know at least one exists for a BeoPort PC2 question, but I thought this questions was a little different and therefore starting a new thread about it.
I have just purchased a second hand BeoPort PC2, model 1672, which I am concerned could be broken but to check I just wanted to check that the Masterlink set-up was correct because when the BeoLink PC2 is plugged into the Masterlink system everything else that was previously working stops. My dealer is unsure if the BeoLink PC2 should work without either (I) Speakers attached or (ii) another audio product on the Masterlink.
The current set-up, just re-programmed and everything works fine:
Video Master - V.OPT = 2 - BeoVision 7 (sharing VMEM and DVD)
Link Video - V.OPT = 6 - BeoVision10 (can watch both local sources and VMEM and DVD from the BV7)
Link Speaker - L.OPT = 6 - BeoSound 3500 (can listen to VMEM, DVD etc...)
There is no audio system on the masterlink
I programmed the BeoLink PC2 to be in Link Option 2 using the BeoPort system and the PC it is attached to to be the Main PC, default source is also PC. When I plugged the BeoLink PC2 into the Masterlink everything stopped working, even after a total power down. I could no longer listen to video sources in link rooms, in fact the BL3500 would not even come out of standby. I am concerned that either I'm missing a set-up trick or the BeoLink PC2 has a serious fault that totally corrupts the Masterlink preventing any sources from being viewed/listened to in link rooms.
I'm aiming to have the BeoLink PC2 as audio master to listen to N.MUSIC on the BL3500 as well as all current products. There will be no speakers connected via PowerLink, only USB and Audio in. I also do not have any other audio masters on the Masterlink.
Thanks in advance for any support.
Steven
Wow - I think I may have answered my own question, but even without the BeoLink PC2 powered up, just simply plugging in the masterlink cable causes the system to fail and the BeoLab 3500 to go into standby - it means very odd because no power is applied to the BeoLink PC2
Does the mains lead to the PC2 have a earth connection. The PC2 MUST have a mains earth connection.
Regards Keith....
Hi Keith, Yes it is a three pin kettle type lead that powers the device. Granted it may not have powered down fully before I plugged the masterlink cable into it but that fact that nothing else turns on when it is plugged in looks bad!
I use A.TAPE2 and it works fine with an old BeO4 and N.MUSIC/N.RADIO with the new BeO4.
