I have a beogram 8002 that plays intermittently.  When it plays it produces a sound like a door closing somewhere far off in the house.  The sound seems to be fairly regular though I have not timed it.  Other than that it sounds great.  Could this be the capacitor problem I have read about?  Is there a way to acquire the caps so I can replace them?  Thanks.

Hi Norm,

I think what you hear are hiccups from a badly lubricated carriage mechanism.

Old grease or lack of it, plus sticky dust.

Clean thouroughly and apply fresh grease, oil for the screw.

Possibly a new belt as well.

Welcome to Beoworld! Smile

I take it, you have undone the three transport safety screws, right ?

Hi, Yeah I released them.  It's been years since I forgot but the lesson remains vivid.  Thanks for the response.  Norm
