While testing my BM7000 and ML setup I noticed that while it wouldn't accept every option programming it actually accepted option "3"  which I didn't know existed.  Fortunately it didn't turn my BM7000 into a boat anchor but it does beg the question whether this is a "real" option, some diagnostic testing configuration, or something else.  Are there any other unique options out there?

I'm only aware of options 1,2,4,5 & 6.

I've never heard of option 3. Perhaps as you suggest, it is a service mode of some kind.

It took me by surprise.  It wasn't responding to some other codes so I tried it on a whim and it actually appeared to have accepted it with a visual "3" confirmation the way it does the other codes.

I was a little nervous to try anything so I changed it back right away.  Maybe I should just see how it behaves.  Just thought I'd ask in case it was dangerous;)

OK.  Again,  the BM7000 appears to accept an Option "3" setting.  It's hard to tell (and I'm certainly no expert) but it seems to behave like maybe in option 5.

Now, This BM7000 does not seem to accept option 5 or 6.  Was this the case with all BM7000s or was it one of the units that could be updated?

Also, my understanding was that option 4 would allow it to only respond to "L-" commands locally.   Is this correct or a misunderstanding of Option4?  Regardless, it does seem to accept option 4 which I thought was only reserved for certain link products.

Just noticed in the post below that Tomap had found that his older overture also responded to option codes 1-4.  Sounds like what mine is doing accept I can actually get visual confirmation of the code # that mine is accepting so I know that "something" is going on".

Getting really curious now.   Could this of been a transitional option "5" type code for certain products before B&O committed to having option 5 and 6 instituted?

Hi

I have a Beosound Overture that i want to set to option6, but it dosent to work. If i set it to option 1, 2, 3, or 4, I get a respons from the red led (it blink). If i try to set option 5 or 6 nothing is happening. Does the overture support option 5 and 6 ? If it is something wrong, i would all options to fail.

Regards

Tom

I believe Options 5 & 6 were introduced to allow an Ouverture to be used as a local source if you already had an existing audio master. (You can only have one audio master in an ML system). The introduction of these options required the Ouverture to be above a certain software. Early versions of Ouverture required a software update.

I think???

But I stand to be corrected. I've had a few sleeps since then :-)

Hi,

i can confirm that also the Beosound 2500 supports the programming of option '3'.

Tried this setting some years ago but found no difference to option '2' . Also no difference  with the connected Beolab 2000 at the masterlink or the two-way-communication of the remote control Beolink 5000 or Beolink 7000).

Being a lazy bone i let it in option '3' setting and it still works nice Smile
