Can I please have your opinions on which is the better TV.  I have been offered a beovison 5 (2003, not HD.)  I currently have an Avant DVD from 2004, and am more than happy with the picture.

I was in the Bang & Olufsen store a year ago and thought the LCD screens were horrible on normal broadcasts, but thought the plasma had a stunning picture.  the avant RF is not HD, but the picture still kills cheap rubbish LCD's in my opinion.

I do not watch a lot of TV, and like the design of the beovision 5.  It is unmarked and I was assured the picture is perfect.  Is there any major problems with the beovision 5's?  Never had a problem with any Avant I have had over the years.  Can you still buy a screen for the BV5 if it needs replacement? (probably not cost effective, but if I liked the TV I would probably do it.)  Any thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated.

Worth a punt?

Regards.

I have both and though I like the size and way I can integrate my BV5 with my other B&O stuff in the main living room, I actually prefer the picture quality on my Avant.  The BV5 is good at distance but not great when closer to it.  2003 is getting on a bit and unless you know the hours used (from the internal log) I think I'd stay clear of it.

There was a thread here about the inside of a BV5 being serviced which was filled solid with dust and dead insects (they like the heat) and it almost pût me off buying mine but for the good deal I got from Lifestyle AV.

Dave.

Dave my French friend.  I told the lady selling it how to put it into test mode.

It has been turned on 970 times, no idea if that reflects the hours used...

THE CHASSIS OF BV5 IS WONDERFUL. It would be nice to get one does not work, replace the screen with a modern (non-B & O).

I suppose that someone has already done.

The problem is that the BV5, also not HD, they are still very expensive.
