Hi, I have a compatibility issue with an old beovision...
I have a hd-ready beovision 7-32 with dvi input and vga projector output (1280x720 resolution). To enable multiple HD sources I added a hdmi switch, followed by a hdmi extractor for the sound. This way I have HD TV receiver (settopbox), raspberry pi and appletv 4th generation connected to the beovision. I can watch all sources in 1080i or 720p on the beovision. I can also view all the content on a hitachi projector using the VGA output from bv7.
All works great, except when I try to watch the apple tv source on the projector: the screen shows briefly, then it says something like “content protected, please switch to a different source”. I read the few posts here on the forum about this issue, and I know this is a hdcp issue, but I don’t know if it can be resolved. If I put the output resolution of the apple tv to 480p it shows the content from apple tv on the projector, but every few seconds it briefly drops to the message above, and then restores the image. So even when it works, it does not like this setup.
I have not tried a different projector, but this hitachi can go up to WUXGA so that resolution should not be the issue. Perhaps a vga-hdmi converter and a hdmi capable projector works? Or is the conversion inside the bv7 what breaks the hdcp chain?
Has anyone experienced this issue and knows of a solution? E.g. the use of Atlona AT-HDSync, as I read in another thread? Or would a downgrade to a 3rd generation apple TV or a chromecast solve this?
Upgrading the beovision and the projector to make it works is probably the most expensive solution, so I try to avoid that for now.
All help is welcome, because I really wanted this to work after seeing the projector work so well with the raspberry pi and the Hd tv receiver.... the apple TV is a recent addition and I am very disappointed that I could not get it to work.
Thank you in advance!

Any experience with this message on a Beovision is welcome - I sure I am not the only person tp have tried to use the VGA output of the Bv7-32 with an appleTV...
Update in this matter: After elaborate testing with chromecast, apple tv and other hdcp devices, as well as contact with b&o support it is clear that the problem exists because the analogie signal of the beovision VGA output restrics hdcp sources to be displayed on the projector. Customer support let me know that there is no bv7-32 with dvi projector output. I then asked for the hdcp conpliance of the dvi-d putput on bv7-40 mkIII and above, but they first told me that bv7 never had dvi output. After sending the reference manual from beoworld to them they replied with the following:
Bump up this thread: is there anyone succesfully using a full hd source (netflix via appletv or blueray) on a Beovision 7-40 MK 3 or 4, with a projector connected to the dvi-d? Without hdcp errors?
Thanks in advance.
There is a very easy solution to that. Just use an HDMI Audio splitter on the entrance signal. Most of them accidentally delete the HDCP check ;-)
Then your VGA; DVI-I whatever Beamer will work ;-)
HDMI Source -> HDMI/Audio Splitter -> BV 7

Yes! But I need to check if i can be redistributed (Format 0) on the mkIII
I have a BS3 sourcing the BR to the MkIII through the display 2 output. It is the HDMI version though!
Did you get the chromecast to work? Which version of the ATV?
BTW the BV7-32 and BV7-40 are quite different in behavior!
Stay tuned while I investigate!

Yes - should work. I havea BV7 40 mk3 with Hitachi projector connected to dvi out 2. All connected HS sources - internal HD sat tuner, Dreambox HD, Amazon fitr tv 4k, LG bluray player - work without any problems via projector. Did you chheck projector settings on BV7?
Stefan
all connected hd sources - internal HD tuner, Dreambox HD, Amazon fire tv 4k, LG bluray player - work fine on my Hitachi projector connected to a BV7 40 mk3 dvi out 2 .

Works here too,- Amazon fire tv 4k?

I have a splitter from delock, but is passes HDTP through. Do you know some brands that actually strip the HDCP check?
Thank you Stefan and Beovox141 for confirming that it works on the BV7-40 MK3!
BEOVOX141:Did you get the chromecast to work? Which version of the ATV?
I tried chromecast version 1, apple TV gen3 and apple TV gen4 on my BV7-32.

I know! I currently use a 7-32 and I want to upgrade and anticipate the use of the DVI-D output, hence my question. Cheers!

I thought there was only one output on the BV7-40?
MJBeo:I thought there was only one output on the BV7-40?
The first one is hidden inside. on the later models (HDMI) both are external just like the BS3. The display is simply connected with a HDMI patch cable, easily detachable. Which actually means swapping the entire panel to something else is possible, provided there is a mechanical fit!

Thank you, I actually got a solution even for the BV7-32: I connected another HDMI audio extractor that I had laying around and although the picture quality on the BV screen suffers a bit (high saturation/ high contrast), I can get the apple tv on my projector! So I actually got what I want now!
