I want to overhaul my CX100 speakers, yes the same problem here, so I was trying to read all the articles on that.
Noticed that these could be foamed or rubber

Would like to have some advice inhere, because the explanation on that site doesn't ring a bell on me.
also some members mention shimming, how can this be done??
There are plenty of previous threads on refoaming/repairing drivers, for example of the process and shimming see this article:
http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/wikis/surround/speaker-surround-repair.aspx
Just search 'refoaming' and you'll find pages of examples.
Some members shim, others don't. Some of the most respected speaker repair outfits don't either (depending on the speaker being repaired) as they feel it's mostly unnecessary. For the perfectionists, shim away.
If foam was good enough for B&O, it's good enough for me. The examples of where rubber surrounds can be better than foam given by them seem valid.
There have also been plenty of discussions on here about GoodHiFi and their surrounds - especially for Pentas.
