Hi everyone.

I have borrowed two set of BO speakers home for testing. Till now i have tested the great combination with BL18 + BL19, the sound is simply great. The bass coming out of the BL19 really lifts the sound picture to a new level.

The BL 9 is also an amazing and superb speaker, nothing more or less...

Now i am sitting here and thinking of what combo should i consider  buying?

It's of course a matter of taste/design and so on, but what would you recommend me to do?

( I know about the new and superb BL 20, but that is just to much money for me at this moment)

Hi Normann,

YOU are the lucky man who is able to test both speaker sets in your personal home environment. I didn't hear these speakers side by side, only alone, but I think there will be no definite judgement like 'this is doubtless better'. So yes, it will be a question of personal taste.

I have the Beolab 19 with Beolab 1 and I really love this combo. BL 19 gives BL 1 the bass punch I ever missed. What would you say: Is the bass performance of BL 19 better than BL 9?

Regards

I would say it sounds deeper than the BL 9, and with its smaller size maybe a little better on the details. it can be a little bit to dominate, but this can maybe have something to do with the placement of the sub..With movies it's just great.

And i am feeling lucky to have the both combo's in the house :)

Thank you very much for your estimation.

BTW: If you think BL 19 is a little bit too dominate, you can adjust the level (at your Beovision or at BL 19 itself).

If music is the main priority I would prefer the BL9. But given all the other priorities like styling of the room, surround expandability and so on, the other combo might be preferable.

I would agree if you would refer to Beolab 2. Beolab 19 is far better with music. But I have to a admit that I didn't compare BL 18/19 combo with BL 9 side by side.

I understand what you mean, but i think that the BL 9's subwoofer is't that impressive, at least in our living room which is rather huge and a high ceiling.. But then again it's giving a nicer/prettier sound.. So i think it's not so easy Sad

Well, with the BL9's you have two subwoofers!

Pretty hefty ones too. 2x 10" drivers in 18 liter chambers, while the BL19 has 2x 8" drivers in 7 liter chambers.

Well i have decided that i not gonna buy the BL 9 speakers. They just don't sound good in my living room.. I find that very strange, and i have never experienced this before. When i move them to my kitchen or another room, they sound so different.. That is so strange, and sad Unsure

When it comes to the BL18 and my BL8000, it' s a difference of course, but if it worth almost 5.000 Euro, i am not so sure.. Maybe i just buy me a BL 19 and connect them to my  BL 8000, and save some money..

I will have a talk with my contact at the store today..
