Hi all members,
I did a search already with "Ouverture CD makes noise" but I did not found any information.
The CD player is fully functional but, when playing classic music, during silence, I can hear a little noise like something "scratching" on the CD which is not the case of course. Of course when playing music with no silence you can't notice. Is there something I need to lubrificate or is there a problem of motor or something else I can fix to eliminate this bad sound ?
Any advises and expreriences are welcomes.
Thanks in advance
Franck
Hi Franck,
I presume because you mention lubrication and the motor that this sound is coming from the overture itself and not from the speakers..
Does this happen on all CDs? it may be that the CD is catching on the mechanism and this is more common if the CD is slightly warped or if you are playing CD-Rs that you have burned yourself as these are slightly thicker than pressed discs.
Martin
Hello Martin,
And thanks for your reply and sorry for late feedback I was off...
The noise does not comes from speakers you are right but from the CD player itself, worse when doors are opened. It happens with all CDs, I don't use CD-Rs because I found bad quality and I have the chance to work in a big company where we have a CD "theque" with a lot of CDs you can take free of charge for some weeks... The noise does not happen at the very begining of the CD, but after around 15 to 20 minutes of reading and this I repeat with all CDs (old and new). When the noise started it does not stop and it is disturbing when listening classic music... you know the silences are "broken". That's why I though my problem could comes for the CD mechanism which I could lubrificate. I take care each time I load a CD that is well done so I'm not sure the problem is due to a "bad alignment of CD" it is well hold by the CD "clamper".
Or maybe I need to bring my Ouverture to a B&O seller but I'm afraid about the diagnose and the price to repair !
Thanks for your help
Hello,
ist your CD drive the "Arc Version" (lasercutout is an arc) or the straight (laser cutout is vertical) one?
Markus
Hello Markus,
It is the non arc one, the laser lens move in straight way.
Thanks for answer
It could be a laser at it's end of his life.
Repairing or replacing the laser together with cleaning the mechanism would be the solution.
Hi,
Yes but I would like to try first a "solution" by my own because I guess the B&O service will cost as much as the price I bought this second hand Ouverture ... This is the risk I took, I will drop a tiny super fine oil on the CD axle first then will see. If not sufficient will go to B&O. I phoned to them, they take 60 euros to make the system diagnose, which you don't pay at the end if you let them make the repair. That's a pretty fair approach.
Thanks
Hi There,
Finally I went to B&O seller of my town and I'm really really happy on the job they did for only 250 euros.
- Door "belt" replacement
- K7 speed adjusted with high precision (plus azimut)
- Lamps now are working well (replacement of the module which manage both all lamps and doors open/close)
- He managed to adapt on my CD player a small piece in aluminium which allow the head to move more smoothly compared to when directly moving on Zamac "rail" which was my version. He kept those kind of spare (aluminium rail) for good customers in order to avoid to replace the entire CD player so the new module which manage it... and price increase a lot in that case.
I think he would like to have me as customer and I will consider it.
Conclusion for 250 euros my Ouverture is now fully refurbished, no more noise, CD is just perfect and K7 also (I know K7 are has been but have somme collectors not available on CD and worst in numeric format...) lamps so nice, just perfect.
Just to share B&O seller good experience.
He even proposed me 500.00 euros to get back my pair of BL2500 to buy its BL12.3 demo but in perfect condition (nobody touch on B&O shop) in their original bulk for 2500 euros, 500 euros then 10 x 200 euros per month so 0% credit.
Good proposal I think.
Good to hear a positive resolution. Which shop did you take it to?
Dave.
Hi Dave,
B&O Grenoble, first class service. And about the BL12 I made a mistake the model are the big one with 2 subwoofers the BL12.3 not .2 !
