Does anyone have any experience hooking up the Sony Bravia A1E TV to the Beolab 17 wirelessly? I am thinking of purchasing the combination but not sure how that would work and what else would I need, e.g., Beosound Moment, Transmitter 1? Is the sound quality better with wires (ethernet, TOSLINK) or would wireless suffice?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had a setup with a Transmitter 1, but with a preamp between the transmitter and tv.

You have to be aware that there is a start up time, so you have to wait a bit before there is sound.

Else I had no problem what so ever, worked well great sound.

I have not tried your setup, without a preamp, but if you get it, I would like to know the outcome.

HI, i did use beolab 17 with a Sony tv (an older lcd model) it worked well. I used the wireless receiver but you have to add the ir receiver so that you can control the volume. The optical out from the tv is probably at a fixed level.

Thank you for your input. It seems that I may be able to set up the system using a Transmitter 1 coupled with the Beolab IR receiver to control the Sony TV and turntable, and its volume. I will be stopping by the B&O shop soon to discuss. I won't put this up until May next year when the construction is completed on our home. I will post an update.

That should work. However, that is only suitable for a simple stereo set-up if you ever want 5.1 or 7.1 you will have to buy an AV receiver. I am using Marantz and that is working out well. I connect TV to AVR and then to Transmitter one and wirelessly going to Beolab 18,19 and 15 for surround speakers.

By the way, I say the Sony A1E today and I was super impressed with the quality of the image. The only thing that worries me is that I would want to wall mount this TV but the "kick stand" and the the bar at the back of the TV will make a flat mount very difficult unless you cut into the drywall and sink the kick stand into that. I am really considering this TV or the Samsung Q9.

Should be great!

I am planning wall mount the TV - though not flush - and may consider the receiver if I go the 5.1 route. Thanks!

I have a Loewe OLED tv, and it’s better than LCD in every way.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

TLE,

How did you go with the set up ?  Did you end up with the BL 17?

There is also another box called an Axiim Q which will work.

It is a WISA transmitter and also a surround sound "amp" and has 7.1 channels.

There is also an update to the Sony A1 OLED, in that it is the exact same TV for 2018 with an additional new model called the A8 which gets rid of the kick stand to allow for closer mounting to the wall
