I have a pair of beolab 6000s hooked up to an old sears turntable/cassette player combo thing, and they both have a constant hum whether or not any music is playing. Changing the l/r balance does not affect the hum at all, but raising the volume raises the hum as well. The hum persists when the volume is entirely off. If i unplug the cable from the turntable the hum gets louder, and if i disconnect it from the speakers they go dead silent. I would assume its rf interference or something, but i have a pair of shielded cables and they do the same. When connected to my other setup with the powerlink connector the hum is gone, but since that turntable has no needle i have to use this one for now. The woofers also make a hum/rattle noise at high volumes or at higher notes. I would also suspect a ground loop also, but none of the power cables have a ground prong on them.

You are wrinting that You have no problems with Power Link. This means that You have af "Ground" issue. In the PL cable Pin 2(Two) is making a ground connection between BL and the BM/BS. The humming You hear is the 50 Hz from the powersupply from your non B&O equipment. This because the 50 Hz humming is not supressed in your non B&O equipment. Your non B&O Equipment will properly have an earth / or Ground screw on the rear close to the panel. You will need a RCA (Phono) plug with an auxillery ground wire. This aux wire You will have to connect to the ground screw to your non B&O equipment.. Then the humming is gone.
