Hi, I have recently refoamed the midrange units on my pentas and they sound much better. I mainly stream music via Apple TV which has a seperate DAC connected to teh CD input on my BM6500 and via a converter to the scart input on BV8-32

My problem is that I have the speakers connected to the BV and it sounds ok, but a bit thin, connect the speakers to the BM and it's fuller but slightly distorted. When I had an AE and the DAC everything sounded fine and also when I had an older Avant and BS3000 everything worked and no difference between the speakers connected to the BS or Avant.

So I am in a quandry as to what would be the best way of feeding a signal to the Avant, could it be the DAC that is faulty as if I play Vinyl through the BM and then onto the Speakers it sounds really good and much better with the speakers connected straight to the BM.

I had thought of perhaps trying a different pre-amp like quad or something to see if that fed a better signal.

Not sure if others have had the same problem, or if it is as basic as there is no dolby card in the BV and that's why the sound was better with the Avant or if the BS3000 is just better than the BM6500.

Before I spend anymore or change anything, I am interested in others views or experiences, - or do I just get a Playmaker and be done with it!

Hi ajames,

since you write that you use an AppleTV-box for music, may I ask you why this is not simply connected to the tv?

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hi, it is and is good, but the sound via the HDMI or if I use and HDMI converter and then into one of the scart sockets isnt that great, if I feed the output through a DAC it is a much fuller better sound, but still not as good as it used to be when I had AVAnt/BS3000 - so wondering if the it is the DAC combined with current config or I should get a better DAC.

Really quite interested in what connection methods other people use particularly with better speakers etc.
