Panasonic's BDT700 is launched this month and I reckon that it'll be the one to set the standard - Oppo watch out! I've never come across a company that uses such quality components as Panasonic. Their products simply last and last!

Im not currently using a 4K player, however someone commented last week on the Oppo BR 103 Darbee Edition. From what I read its marvellous. That's the one I would go for at the moment.

I agree with what Paul says. I have never had a single problem with any panasonic product be it a telephone, television, microwave, bread maker, anything.

I am not surprised by what you say about panasonic. That's why I wait their new ax900 full led 4k tv:)

totally agree with you Ovisab - that's the one that i'm having. I like the Avant but with only 100HZ something is telling me that BANG&OLUFSEN are using very basic cheap panels for this television and I think it's clear that the new Panasonic will deliver a far better picture. Now why couldn't B&O use Panasonic parts?

The new Blu-Ray player is a real looker too...

Panasonic bluray better than an OPPO?  Almost funny. Try out an OPPO and post again. Their intro 103 is DOING what Panny promises in the 700, and more, for a couple years. But a nice me-too product.

You are right I don't think the panasonic is better but they are similar.

However the combination panasonic full led tv + player could be a really good choice.

Personnally There are two thing that are missing for the avant which are the full led like the 7 55 and the 4k capabilities (decoder, hdmi 2)

In the 6 next months I will see how the avant evolve and how is finally the panasonic full led offer, if there is a big difference or not.

I hope it will be just a little improvment.

I don't think that the lack of 4k source is actually a problem. A very good upscale to 4k is already a good reason to buy one actually.

I keep my tv a rather long time so within 3years I hope there will be some ;)

Hi Symmes,

Having worked in broadcasting all of my life, i've used several OPPO Made in China machines thanks.

There's a reason why every broadcaster uses Panasonic equipment. They deliver and never fail.

Yes, OPPO does have its own followers just like any brand.

Flappo you broken record you :) W'eve been using 4K for our promo videos since last July with Sony AX1 cameras edited using Final Cut X with MBK Pro i7 and I can tell you 4K is incredible! just the colour accuracy, the vibrancy.

It's funny when people say 'Ar yes but Sky aren't broadcasting in 4K' as to me, Sky is very much a 1990s brand as I watch my content from Vimeo, YouTube etc etc and don't watch traditional methods firstly because they don't really cater for my tastes and secondly they talk down to people with their long commercial breaks etc. I'm sure Flappo once you've lived with 4K you'll very much regret your anti 4K postings.

Anyway back to the subject!

I'm not anti 4k , I just don't see the point of it in the current marketplace . I'm sure pro's will use it on their lovely Mac Pro etc but until there's a readily available 4 k source , say blu ray 4k , it's just a leap too far.

Maybe in 6 months time when the 4k apple itv is out and itunes goes 4k?

Yes, but you don't need to keep rabbiting to Avant owners that the only reason they bought it was 4K and, as 4K is hard to find, they've somehow made a mistake (that's what you're implying). It isn't at all. It's the design, the excellent trade-in price, the remote and much more.

I've bought the Oppo Blu-ray player to use with my forthcoming Avant.

Yes. But you've been missing the fact that 4k gives you better picture quality even with 1080p today.

Why would you take one then as 'your fee' - ref another thread on Beoworld?  Like Moxxey, I'm also getting a litle tired of your banging on about 'no 4K for your shiny new Avant' as yopu've put it in another thread.

You may as well argue what's the point of a car that will do 240kph when the speed limit is 120kph?  There are plenty of points - self esteem, comfort, supporting a marque, other performance factors etc.  The same can be said of the new Avant and its many features that put it way ahead of many other TV's out there.

Dave.

So I could trade it in against an 11 obviously.
