Suggestion for iPod connection to analogue amp

Hi

I would like to connect an iPod to an analogue amp, but want to use an iPod Dock if possible.

i was also thinking alternatively using a pre-amp to put between the iPod and the amp to reduce power drain on the iPod while it's driving the amp.

The best solution would be an iPod Dock that incorporates a high end preamp as well, but any suggestions greatly appreciated......
