Hi everyone, New member here.

After stunning service over the last 18/19 years my pentadlab speakers have suddenly lost the middle info display.

The audio system is 7000 CD player into Beomaster 7000 using a Beolink 1000 remote. I also use Beolab 4's as infill speakers so the power link cable to the pentas is from one DIN only, the other being taken up with the Beolab 4's.

Possible I've accidentally pressed something to inhibit the display but I don't think so.

The sound remains as solid and superb as ever and the Beomaster balance control still shifts left to right.

Any help appreciated.

Bump on this.

I'll add that nothing has been moved or changed recently....the system has been rather idle of late though. I've tried swopping the power link DINs around with no change, still no info display.

Must be amp related as both speakers are the same?

I could only guess, but I think you're right. The problem sounds like its in the BM, since both speakers are affected.

Well I wouldn't be so quick ruling out that the fault is in one of the speakers. If they are daisy chained (as I understand they are) a fault in one might affect the other. And even if they aren't daisy chained I could think of scenarios where a fault might affect the other speaker. They are not totally isolated like that.

Try connecting only one speaker at the time and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did what you all suggested and I'm back on full display.

My pentas aren't daisy chained. Rather they are on a 'Y' connector out of one power link DIN. The other set (of infil Beolab 4's) is similarly on a 'Y' connector from the other power link DIN.

As I unplugged the left penta connector from the 'Y' the right speaker started displaying. This went away again as I plugged the left penta back in. I pushed and pulled on this left connector and got both displays back.

So a DIN contact I suspect. BUT it does seem to be the case that a bad display contact on one side shuts down the other display as well......... As Johan seemed to suspect.

Both channels share the same Datalink wire in Powerlink connections, so I suspect the Datalink pin is (intermittently) shorted to ground in one of your cables / connectors. That would take out the displays in all speakers connected to the same Powerlink line, or actually the entire Beomaster (the Powerlink sockets are wired in parallel).

Anyway, now you know where the problem most likely is. Replace/fix the cable if the problem returns.
