Hi - I seem to remember someone asking this before but not sure what the response was! - Is a Beolab 2000 ok to use in a Bathroom? It is a fairly small bathroom so steam will be an issue - but it would be wall mounted and out of the way - not sure if it was built for that use or meant for kitchens etc.

You may have looked at this - BL2000 is mentioned:

The legality of 240V in a bathroom depends on your country's wiring regulations, but if you are sensible it should be OK.

I have little doubt that B&O  never rated these speakers for outdoor use or use in moist environments. Will it work? Sure. How it will affect the lifespan of the product is anyone's guess. The tigher and more confined the area the more the steam from the shower is likely to have a detrimental effect over time. I mean, it wouldn't stop me from doing it (and I've done something similar with a different brand product called a "Soundfreaq" but it's considerably cheaper and more "disposable"), but you should make sure that there is a good path for the steam to dissipate from when you're done using the shower, not closing the door etc.

I recall these were made for kitchen and bathroom

This is from the Beoworld product page:

In the kitchen, a BeoLab 2000 connected to the BeoSound Ouverture or BeoSound 3000 in the living room will give you hands-on control of various sources. Via the link to the Beovision Avant, you can follow the news on TV and only watch if something catches your interest. In the kitchen, the bathroom or the garage this little active loudspeaker gives you the option of remote or hands-on control of tape, CD, radio, timer and volume.

Sounds like the marketing department and the engineering department had another Beodisconnect.

Directly from BeoLab 2000 Setup Guide:

"The BeoLab 2000 is designed for use in dry environments only and with a temperature range of 10-40*C".

Also, at the beginning of the manual the boiler plate "To reduce the risk of fire do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture."

Looking the BL2000 over closely, I see nothing about it that makes it any different in construction than say, the BeoLab 3500 which is kind of another offshoot product in the same world to me.

Some people likely have huge bathrooms where moisture and steam are not likely to build up a lot. If you have a small space I'd keep an eye on how much moisture resides after you are done showering. It's not weather sealed!

Hi, I have a passive and ceilimg speakers in there at the moment - the speakers are the problem as they sound awful - solved the problem by having the lab2000 on a bookshelf in the hallway - as I live on my own I can hear it in the bathroom with the door open - decided the bathroom may be too small and too much steam - thanks for the help.
