The only reason I'd consider moving to a 7-55 is for the audio experience. The picture on the 7-55 is arguably an improvement, but some people prefer the smoother picture you get on a plasma (BV9).

I have both.

The 7 is a better tele.

The 9 is great, I do watch it occasionally in the home office but the 7 is a much more detailed panel.

No real question.

Hi Lee ,

What model year is the best ? Are the later ones with 3D any better. What would a 2013 model be worth second hand?

Regards

David.

Of course taste is an individual thing, but I would NEVER change my BV9 for anything else, as I don't feel any other TV comes close to the presence of the BV9. The way it "carries itself" almost like the original Avant does it all for me. I have never been a fan of the BV7 type TVs, that has to be on a stand or a wall and then have an external speaker underneath.

I don't have much experience with the picture of the BV7, but I love the picture of my plasma panel.

That's why I said the audio experience of the BV7-55 is vastly superior to the BV9. You can't better the BL7.6 as an 'all in one' speaker. Picture less so, as some people prefer the smoother picture of a plasma and the BV9 is one of the best. This smoother panel doesn't bode well for sport, but is superb for regular TV, movies etc. I want a lot of sport, so I prefer the sharper and 'faster' LCD panels. I find a plasma panel tries to smooth the grass, so tennis and football isn't as enjoyable.

As it stands right now, you can't really better a BV7-55 audio/video experience. It's currently the best in the business. Avant doesn't come close from an audio perspective and regular TV will look way better on the BV7-55, too.

Only problem for me - and it's a huge problem - is that the BV7-55 is ridiculously large and heavy. I've had a couple of chances to move up from the BV11-46 to a BV7-55, but I don't want something so heavy and large to dominate the room or my apartment. I like the slimline shape and definition of the BV11 as it's like a work of art on the easel stand. The BV7-55 is like someone's parked a small car in your living room. I'd say that the BV9 somewhat shares the 'slimmer' look and feel of the BV11.

I've started to have doubts about the Avant, too. Since the production issues and the two-week delay, tempted to cancel the order and/or wait for an updated BV11-55.

I always coveted the BV9 but just not as much as the 7-55. For me and it's know all down to personal taste, the 7-55 Mk2 is much better than the 9. I've still not seen a plasma better than it.

The 7-6 speaker is the only speaker I've owned that comes close to the all round classic Avant. Essentially it can do everything without feeling the need for supplementary speakers.

I still find the internal Bluray player very helpful. When you add the picture, sound and the player the. 7-55 is unmatched.

But then again I would say that, wouldn't iBig Smile

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Hi,

I own a BV9. and wouldn't exchange it for any tv about the same screen size. In respect to audio: The BV9 has only a center speaker (but a very good one). The rest is done by my BL9s :-)

I start thinking about exchanging my BV9 for an 75" Avant though.

Me too. I will get it fixed if possible but if not then I will buy another TV. For all round viewing I believe this is the best TV for the job. Since the OP has owned one for a while though it might be that a change is due, and if this is the case then a 7-55 or new Avant seems like the obvious choice. Good luck, only you know what you want. B&O is personal to us all.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Interesting result! I feel i would have done the same thing if funds permitted, so that you have the best of both worlds. I never watched sport so when i had a BV9 it was just to die for! Most TV here In Australia is still in SD and the BV9 was so clever in how it dealt with SD content. I also like the stately aesthetics the BV9 has, but the BV7 55 is just as impressive on its table stand sitting on the floor. I just wasn't a fan of the clinical image i saw on it. To be honest i don't really watch much TV at all and i sold the BV9 because it was just not being used but depreciating fast.

Send us a picture of your setups :)

One thing about the BV9 though, was, for me it 'lost its innocence' when i took the front off. Seeing how the panel just sits in there like someone has made their own tv in their garage, and how the speaker is just, well a driver in an mdf cube. Has anyone else done this? The reason i took the front off of mine was to hide the set top box and other electronics inside the cabinet.
