Beolit 12 headphone socket

It does not have.

You anyway airplay from a device, so no need for a headphone jack. If you want to listen with headphones, you would plug into your e.g. iPhone.

Or do I misunderstand?

No you understand completely. I still find it a bit odd, though.  i airplay through my Mac which is in a different room to the Beolit 12

If you hardwire the I.product to the  Beolit it charges it from the internal battery. The Beolit battery then runs down faster. Use the headphone socket and you don't have to charge the speaker so often.
