B&O should take action to protect the brand. No joke. Next thing you know there will be B&O saws and condoms. If this were another fruity brand, they would already be closed.

On the other hand, McDonalds (the hamburger people) go TOTALLY nuts about anyone using "McDonalds" in a company name, even if the logo looks nothing like theirs.  Needless to say, for that and many other reasons, I do not frequent their establishments.

Next thing you know there will be a B&O Railroad.  Oh, wait, they've been around since 1828.

Names and trademarks are very important to companies, letting them get diluted or lost is a big mistake. Ford screwed up and lost the GT40 moniker, when they released a modernized high end car based on the GT40's design they had to call it the Ford GT. how does a major company let that happen?

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

You can often get away with doing something in a completely different market, using the same 'brand', particularly if the initials are based on your name.

As an example, in the UK there's a famous clothing brand called Hacketts and a barbers called Hacketts. The former tolerates the latter.

There are loads of examples. We used to own a company called 'Active' in the name (I won't give the full name!) and a much bigger company had exactly the same name and owned the brand. They were completely fine with us using the same name....as long as it didn't impact their business. After websites started launching in around 1997, and soon after people were able to search for companies online, sadly they started to get a few calls - so they politely asked us to change our name/brand, giving us a generous grace period for us to accomplish this.
