It´s a lifestyle.
So many different products from us all and each one a worthy winner. It is fair to say that most B&O products are the best of the best. Would we buy them if they weren't?
I chose BV9 and BL9 for my top two choices but really, that is so unfair on the products that have come before them that all gave me so much pleasure in different ways: BV7, BV6, Avant, BS9000, BL8000s, BL3500, BS2300, BS3 (Loved the little BeoSound 3 loads - too bad the top part kept needing replacing!!), BC 2/6000s, Beo5/4 and so the list goes on...
While I often look at other products on the market I always end up coming back! No one does it quite as well and distinguished as B&O.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
It has to be the BV11-46. Followed closely by the...
BeoLit12 (charcoal grey - had to get three different ones due to freezing issues)
While the BS9000/BL8000 combo I wrote about previously is still my all time best purchase, there's another one that I truly treasure and which has really proven a good acquisition:
My Beotime! It has replaced the bulky clock radio I did have, and not only is it a gorgeous little device, using it is a true joy. There is an amazingly rewarding sense of tactile satisfaction when handling it and using the controls. The way the smooth, almost slick, aluminum tube feels to the touch, the coolness of the metal, the fact you can set the alarm time quickly and easily, and turn the alarm on and off so easily. No paging thru buttons, or menus, just push the control in or out like a valve on a flute.
I have found a lot more pleasure from it than I would have expected.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Flappo: Is that the time tunnel ?
Wow, that brought back some old memories! In a way, The Time Tunnel was resurrected later as Quantum Leap. Same basic concept. Put the actor in various historic situations.
Nice pic of your 7-55 Chris, which I bought but then changed my mind again! Love the fret too, can't say I have ever seen one like it before. Here's a pic of my recently acquired BV9 in situ... (I am so happy and spending more time watching it than working at the moment!)
Wow it looks lovely, when i purchased my beolab 17s i happened to wonder up stairs where they had a VIP suite with a bv12 wow what a picture.
it just looks so pristine precise and a lot more natural with lush blacks and a real immersive picture. it's a real shame panasonic stopped making plasmas because bang-olufsen did something really special with their panels.
When i went downstairs and looked at there bv11s although good wasn't in the same league as the bv12 in terms of out an out picture quality.
continue to enjoy your bv9.

Thanks Mark...
Yes I agree that the BV12 is very impressive indeed but at 65" that is a big ask for me in my flat. Looking at the uploaded picture you can see the space for the TV, which is the only position it could go in without a whole lot of recabling and moving satellite and ariel points etc. The width of that wall is 55" so the BV9 is a perfect fit. You can see why I have spent so long trying to find the right TV for my property as really, anything over 50" was never going to look quite right.
Initially, I was going to put the 7-55 their, but, while the TV itself looked OK, the 7-6 speaker was far too long and the TV totally dominated the room, which I didn't want. To me, aesthetics are just as important if not more so than the overall performance of the set. Of course in a 'perfect' world it's nice to tick all the boxes and this is why I feel so pleased because the BV9 now meets this criteria.
Actually, what impresses me most about this TV is the picture, which I wasn't expecting to be the case. Especially considering it is the Mk 1 version and now 7 years old. If I recall, they used Panasonic D7/D8 panels back then which by today's standards (with recent plasma technology and compared to the Panasonic GT/VT/ZT series) is quite dated. In the short space of time I have owned this TV it has already become apparent that the source - i.e. what camera was used to film with - is what affects overall picture quality, not the panel. For example, watching Nat Geo HD on Sky last night was the best picture on HD that I have seen so far. It was nothing short of stunning. This was from my Sky HD box set to 720p not 1080i for the output resolution. Watching a 4K picture from YouTube on the Apple TV (switching to 1080i) takes it to another level and leaves me speechless. A 7 year old non-4K television displaying 4K content virtually as good as my previous Sony X9 4K set, certainly to my eyes. Unbelievable! You tell me?
I am trying hard to look for motion problems but haven't found a single issue with this yet. I now realise, watching this TV, that plasma really was/is the true winner over LCD. I base this personal conclusion on motion, which has always bothered me on flatscreen TVs. I have always been sceptical over the years until seeing the 7-55, which did quite honestly blow me away and probably is on par. But, the point here I think is that a 7 year old plasma is on par with a 3 year old LCD/LED. Quite extraordinary.
Totally agree Mark that it's a terrible shame Panasonic stopped producing plasmas. I think this was down to cost, and I am quite sure I read that following the ZT model (which surpassed the reference Pioneer Kuros) there wasn't a lot further for the technology to go. All I know is that when you put great footage through a plasma, wow! What a result you get back! The picture above was taken from my iPhone (3GS!) from a movie preview on my Apple TV and is excellent quality in real life. Imagine how much better it might look from Blu-ray, which I haven't even tried yet! I am particularly pleased with how well it displays SD, especially older programmes recorded from the 70s and 80s that I watch a lot on UK Gold... marvellous! In my opinion, the BV9 hits the mark as the best all round television until every broadcast is in HD or 4K. Even then, the picture is impressive and more than up to the task.
As for enjoying my BV9, oh you can be assured of that my friend! I hope you enjoy your BL17s too. Love those, especially with the mesh covers. I may get a pair to use at the back in a surround setup although I am tempted to go BL9s all round as I love the shape and statement they make so much. As for me, well my hope is that the BV9 goes on for as long as possible (touch wood) because sourcing parts may well prove tricky these days!
This place in your house was reserved exclusively for this master of viewing, the BV9. Stunning picture of it. Allow me to be a bit jealous.
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
I'm sold on your bv9 you are very good at describing the picture quality attributes of it.
I saw an ad for one on ealing Bang-olufsen facebook page for a black mint condition version can't remember what mk it was but it sold really quick.
If I had the opportunity to get it before it sold I would have as they were selling it for the same price as the beolab 17s. I also think that it suits your space very well and the picture from what I can see looks really crisp, must be even better in the flesh.
Thanks guys.
I was watching the BV9 you mention doing the rounds on eBay just a few weeks ago. It was the Mk 1 and went for £1900 which was slightly less than the original asking price and in my opinion a fantastic bargain. Buying an older TV, particularly a 7 year old plasma, does carry risk as parts are no longer available. So taking the time to source one with as little use as possible is key. Especially with plasma where the phosphors are prone to become weaker over time.
Nothing but praise for this TV and I can't recommend it highly enough for anyone that might be considering a change. The Mk 1 seems great to me and it's hard to imagine the picture quality is that much better on later versions based on my viewing experiences so far.
The Beonic Man:.
Thanks for the tip ... I went and browsed YouTube for 4K content ... and some of it is stunning camerawork.
While you can force a laptop session to stream the 4K version, I would like to know how you forced the Apple TV to pull the 4K version from YouTube . . .
Every product in the collection has a story...
I dreamed about Overtures for about 15 years and never pretended I'll have one...
My wife is happy with compatible dimmers (Bossdim & Lutron), so she does not need to get up to turn off the light while feeding the baby...
Baby had her first sounds in life through Serenata :) (that was a while ago - she's playing with BC3200 glass doors now)
A3 is, probably, has the best value...
I adore running in A8 - it fits just better than sport headphones.
If I would choose only one, I would vote for H6, that I do not have yet :). Did some comparisons myself, haven't found the competitors.

I agree but this is absolutely not the purpose of this thread.
There are specific thread for these pictures.

A couple of pictures hardly detract from the 'purpose of this thread'. In fact, they enhance the topic, if anything.

Not as angry as me being told on the morning of my Avant installation....it's not happening :)
moxxey:Not as angry as me being told on the morning of my Avant installation....it's not happening :)
@mbdj & Yendys: Fantastic pictures showing all the hard work gone into those setups. I love a clean installation. Interesting to see how the BV10 looks like just another photo on the wall. Have seen Moxxey say that in other threads and tried to visualise it. Now I can. Great how all the shades of red blend in, very nicely done. Really like the wall mounted BC2 too mbdj, purist style right their, with no sign of cabling. I know the kind of work that's behind these setups as I have gone through it myself! Not with my current BV9/BL9 setup but with various products master linked throughout the flat in my former setup.
@Olvisab: Hope you're feeling better this morning! Anger is a healthy emotion :)
@Moxxey: Oh no Chris, really? What is the reason? Did you take a day off from work for this? I am not surprised to be honest since this is a new product that has barely arrived in the country, let alone in people's homes. Staff and installers probably haven't even had the opportunity to test it properly yet for themselves. I thought a 55" screen might still be a bit on the large size for you too? Apparently not. Be good to see some photos when installed if you'd like to share.
In terms of photos,
I agree that they definitely do enhance this thread and it's great to 'see' the excitement people get from their B&O products. What I also love about B&O is the very people that buy it! They very often make some incredible design statements in their properties as can be seen from some of these pictures in this thread, as well as the specific picture thread. There are so many homes that I would like to visit and have a walk around to gain inspiration and new ideas, many of which are owned by people on this forum! Interior design and creativity is a wonderful thing and that's what keeps B&O in a league of their own.
