Thibault:No more dropouts for me. I am also quite happy with NC. After 3 different pairs of H8s in 8 months, I believe it is finally the end of my H8 nightmare!
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
leosgonewild:Four flights without dropouts
Hi, I've got the H8 since x-mas, and have experienced annoying dropouts when using these with my Samsung smartphone. Not that much dropouts when using the H8 with my iPad, but it is more convenient to use Spotify on the mobile than on the iPad when travelling....
The Samsung supports aptX, but only BT 4.0. The H8 now supports BT 4.2 in the latest sw upgrade.
My question is: If replacing my smartphone, should I go for an iPhone 6s or a Samsung S7 (with BT4.2 and aptX) to have the best listening experience (i.e. least dropouts) with the H8?

BT is backwards compatible. The local B&O store sent me on a WILD odyssey in Feb 2015 by saying that my dropouts were caused by my MacBook Pro (2011) being equipped with only BT2.0. Bull. Folks at Bluetooth chuckled at that notion and told me that it was unnecessary for me to have upgraded my Bluetooth/Airport card to one that is BT4.0 because BLUETOOTH IS BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE. Upgrading anything in your Apple computer must be done on your own because none of the Apple "geniuses" or authorized repair centers will install equipment that wasn't part of your original build. In short, I had to install it myself with the aid of very good video instructions. The result was less than disappointing because all of that work didn't improve the dropouts. Last year I replaced my computer with a 2015 MacBook and the dropouts seemed to disappear (my dropouts were occurring within 2-3 feet of the laptop) until I traveled >10 feet from the laptop and then only intermittently.
Noteworthy to point out that initially Beocare tried to deny the serial number thing and said "you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet." Ultimately, though, they succumbed to reason and contacted the local B&O store to authorize them to provide a warranty replacement pair (I asked for the black one) for 2 reasons: one - manufactured after the alleged antenna redesign; two - it's the color I would've wanted from the very beginning but was not available at product launch.
This experience has taught me to look at the B&O brand differently and to not patronize the Boston B&O store at all because of their horrible treatment of a potentially good customer. They're a franchise and have proven to be most unhelpful post sale.
BeoET: just check Roger's post above and make sure your H8 are on the right side of the serial number range (I'm pretty sure they are not). If your H8 were made before the revision, just send them back. You won't regret it believe me.
Ho, thanks for the feedback. I've returned my H8 back to Beoplay service team, and they confirmed that that set was faulty. They have now shipped me a set of refurbished ones (not arrived yet, so I haven't tried them...), but the serial number on these refurbished Gray Hazel ones are 2493xxxx, i.e. on the wrong side ot the "2524849 (w1542)" as well. Does that mean that B&O fixes the returned H8s with new BT antennas, and then send these refurbished back to those who have sent their H8s in? Should one be worried?
Hi there BeoET,
I have had an exactly same case where the refurbished replacement was with the "old" serial number. The refurbished pair I had gotten from B&o also had dropouts, not if the iPhone or any other source you're using was static and within the line of sight on approx distance of max 2-3 meters. Try putting the phone in the left front pocket of trousers and take a walk outside - the receiver part is in the right headphone cup and it should start dropping out while walking. Moving the phone to the right pocket of your trousers should al out eliminate effect. The "new" s/n H8 almost every never have audio dropouts, even if your phone is several concrete walls away. Hope I'm wrong but your in case you might want to try pushing for the improved antenna headphones. It worked for me - I got my placement pair of refurbished Hazel gray H8's replaced by BNIB black H8. It took a considerable deal of convincing B&o opthrough several channels (FB, Cust service, Twitter) but I got my headphones case straight at the end. The quality of stream is rock solid now - so it naught be worth taking that road. Good luck anyway, let us know how if you have any droppouts with the current pair.
Regards,
Hello. New guy here thinking about purchasing. Wanted to confirm that the h8 does in fact support not just aptx but aptx low latency. Want to use with home theater / apt X-ll transmitter. Was this question ever answered? Thanks.
I don't know if it theoretically supports it. What I do know is that I use it with my Apple TV to watch Netflix. No latency issues. Just make sure you get a 'new' H8. It is an amazing pair of headphones, really!

Duels:Has anyone found a way around this or is it a "feature" that we have to live with, and just hope I don't call anyone important?
If you are using android, you could try the 'smart bluetooth headset' app - it allows you to remap the redial command to another function.

Ok thanks. According to this thread if you order the black ones you don't have to worry about serial number. Just wanted to double check.
Regards.
So just looked at these in Apple Store. Still old colors and old serial numbers. They don't carry the black ones. Sure glad I found this thread before buying.

Yes, if you buy the black there seems to be no problems. Buy them! You won't regret it.
I'm thinking of buying these and had a few questions
1. How is the max volume on these? I've seen a couple of complaints about this being too quiet
2. Has anyone bought from Amazon UK recently and what was your experience in terms of the serial number (fixed vs non fixed)? I don't want to buy black ones to avoid the issues, as I prefer the hazel colour
3. In the revised hardware, was the noise when taking steps with ANC on fixed also? What about the high pitched noise when touching the side?
4. With the iOS app, are the changes stored on the headphones or on the phone? Can I change the settings on iOS and then move to a windows phone, whilst keeping the changes?
5. What is the bass like on these? Are these good headphones for a "basshead"?
Many Thanks!

1. Sometimes i would love to get it 10% louder, but for that i'm using a software called Boom.4. It's stored in the headphones. You can even connect the headphones to another device like an AppleTV and still be able to change the sound via the iPhone/Android app simultaneously. Sometimes it will be reset, haven't found out when/why that happens.
5. Don't expect bass like Beats. I absolutely love the bass but i had friends who tried the headphones and said where's the bass?
Hi, I asked the following question in my previous post:
BeoET: Does that mean that B&O fixes the returned H8s with new BT antennas, and then send these refurbished back to those who have sent their H8s in?

The refurbished H8 set arrived today. I was of course very eager to finally get a well-functioning set of the fantastic H8 on my head! The first thing I did was to upgrade the SW on this refurbished H8 set. After pairing it with both the Samsung smartphone and the iPad, I was very disappointed when I immediately experienced the same dropouts with this "refurbished" set (serial number 24939xxx). I think this set is even worse wrt dropouts than the one I had before - definitely not any better than the one I had (which had serial number 25247xxx). What worries me the most, is that BeoPlay Customer Service actually sends out a malfunctioned "refurbished" product to the customer. If B&O had repaired the antenna, giving a full functioning H8 set, and then send such a fixed set back, that would of course have been fully acceptable.
I'm a devoted B&O customer. Even if this is the first time we've experienced this with a B&O product (we are happily using 2 x BeoVisions, BeoLab 5, BeoLab 8000, BeoSound 9000, Beolit 15, Beoplay A2, Earset 3i etc daily in our house), I'm asking myself why B&O are treating their customers like this? Sending malfunctioning "refurbished" H8 sets back to their customers - why?
I've now replied to BeoPlay Customer Service and asked for a new set - hope that turns out well. I really enjoy the magic of the timeless, innovative B&O products, and still want to be one of their many devoted customer going forward!
I just traded messages with beoplay customer care and they told me the following... That they confirm they did not update the hardware on the BeoPlay H8. But instead they updated the software to now feature Bluetooth profile 4.2, ADK 4.0 & aptX Low Latency, which improves Bluetooth communication with 2.5 times faster - meaning less possibility for dropouts. So if this is true wouldn't it work on refurb units too?
I haven't tried a set produced this year, but the set I got on Monday definetly had serious dropouts, even more than the set I bought before Xmas, I think. Before I tested the refurbished set, I did upgrade to 9.0.7, so I doubt that it could be just a SW issue..
I on the other hand got confirmed from the BeoCare that the upgrade is actually a hardware upgrade - not a software one. An old s/n H8 has dropouts no matter firmware version. As simple as that. :/
One has to be persistent with B&o customers support and demand a new s/n replacement.
Oooops - it 's quite the opposite. Old s/n h8 has dropouts no matter what the firmware version.
Sorry for the hiccups on the last page - I used the "Quick Reply", and it resulted in 3 identical posts... Tried to delete 2 of them via "My Activity", but that didn't work.
another question.... has anybody test to pair the H8 with more then one device? Example: If I pair the H8 with a iPad, iPhone and/or Mac ... can i easily switch between all 3 Devices or must I re-pair my Device and the H8 every time if I switch my device?
Thanks Thomas

Hi everyone
I am looking for a hard case. The gocase F2 seems appropriate however it appears the H8 look a bit lost inside. Perhaps they are best for H6/H7's.
Is there a more compact version avaliable from any other manufacturer?
I've got the new replacement H8s after my H8 suffered with dropouts (BeoPlay first sent me a refurbished set that had a SN less than the one I bought before Xmas, but now they sent a complete new set).
The new H8 has serial number 25475xxx, and they work perfectly :-) ! No dropouts when listening to music from the mobile, regardless if the mobile is kept in the pocket (left, back or right) !
Now I'm really looking forward to use these amazing headphones on my upcoming business trips!
I found a shop with the H8 in and was able to try out their demo model. My impressions were:
The look and feel of them is really nice
Bass was good, but as a basshead I would like slightly more
Volume was not as high as I would like. I had them on maximum volume and could comfortably listen. Really I want to be listening on 70%-80%, so I have space to turn them up instead of being maxed out. I want them to be uncomfortable to listen to at 100%
I found the gestures awkward. Maybe just something you have to get used to.
I could not really test the ANC. The environment was not noisy enough. I noticed a difference in the sound switching it on/off, but couldn't tell how effective it was at blocking outside noise.
In terms of bassy bluetooth headphones with ANC, I haven't found anything better yet. I suppose it's a question of whether I want to drop the ANC requirement and get something with more bass. Not ideal as I will be using them on the train everyday. Or go for Beats which are bassy and have ANC, but I have not heard good things
Just got my second replacement headset (Gray Hazel). SN that starts with 2512. Is this not high enough? Does it have to be over 2524 on Gray Hazel?
I still experience small drops in connection when I have my phone in my jeans. And I experience some weird popping noise when walking with ANC on. You are supposed to be able to use this headset with ANC on while walking right?
I picked up some H8 black over the weekend. They do make a noise while walking, so I would recommend turning off the ANC. If you need that feature while walking, I would return them and get a different model.
I'm also experiencing a lot of dropouts even though I got the black colour which is supposed to be the improved hardware. Going to try them a little longer before returning them, but not very impressed so far :( Apart from the dropouts I am happy.
