Chris:Today the same problem appears, colored circles but at any position you push a mood in the outer or middle ring, the same music track starts (Moody Blues) as before the update. Nothing bettered...
I thought I was ok as I mainly use the inner ring, but after testing the middle and outer rings, I have the same conclusion.Outer and Middle rings are divided in 4 or 6 different streams instead of 99 .... Nice downgrade :-) and +1 in the Moment's frustrated users club!

Regarding the inner ring, I found an interesting behavior:
Tracks start to play randomly according to the selected Mood and then, at some point, tracks are playing from the same album and no longer randomly, such behavior should be hard to code!
Not sure if the option was there prior to the latest upgrade, but you can stream music directly from the DLNA server to the Moment. I find this a good option as the Twonky user interface is more user friendly when searching for artist albums or tracks than the JukeBox or the BeoMusic App.

This is strange to me, have tried it before but it was sending the sound to my V1, not to the Moment. (BeoLab speakers are connected to the V1).

I´m running the old version recommended by B&O so that feature may not be there. I will check however.

I didn't know that B&O was up to recommending versions of the Twonky Server .... makes life difficult!
That's said it works fine and what's "funny" is that the JukeBox is not able to identify what's going on when music stream is triggered from the Twonky Server to the Moment renderer, i.e. the JukeBox does not show what's currently playing, but the BeoMusic app is ......
Hi Beoworlders,
Two updates before I had a almost reliable BS Moment. The Restart-Rate was on a low level and even my wife decided to use the BS Moment more often than the BS A8.
But now, the BS-Moment is useless again.
They crippled the only working features, the Deezer connectivity, the Moodwheel, the artist tiles, the first setup and the factory reset.
When you perform a factory reset, the cover view is now deactivated by default. Okay - the processing is now faster - but when you activate the cover view after the processing - you will recognize, that the BS Moment updates the Artist-Tiles from Deezer-Content only. most of the Artist Tiles from your own collection will stay empty. For example, I had Alicia Keys in my own collection on the Twonky-Server and in Deezer - therefore I had two different artist tiles, Now the artist tile from my Alicia Keys Twonky-collection vanished.
Before the updates, the jukebox was able to empty the cache automatically by itself (e.g. in case it had to process to many covers). You could recognize it, like a quick reboot process. With this solution B&O avoided, that the customer is forced to do the shamefull pin-reset, (because the jukebox stoped responding to any input). Two update before, I barely needed the Paperclip anymore. Now we are back to the Pin-Reset-Procedure - mostly the Jukebox is showing no content. Very often I see no content at all, when I tap on TuneIn, Artists or Playlists - just empty pages. After a Pin-reset - the content is back again.
Next thing, since yesterday I own a new Avant. Therefore I don't need the BeoLink NL/ML anymore. I thought just changing the speaker-settings to the Avant and a complete reboot process would be enough. No! Even if the NL/ML converter is removed from the setup, the Moment is trying to connect to the BeoLink instead of using the Avant. It seems B&O changed the factory reset too, even after a factory reset, the Moment shows under Link-Devices the removed NL-Converter. It seems doing a factory reset, will not delete the old settings. Who cares "Processing-time is fun" - B&O-customer is patient enough, to sit for days in front of this pile of ***p. If there is any way to collect money to sue B&O for the lost time, money and pain, they have caused with this device and this kind of damages, I would be one of the first clients - please sign me in.
Maybe, I don't know enough about this business model, but in the first place - I would test a update thoroughly, before I upload it automatically on the devices of my valued customers. B&O was on the right track, the device improved really well, the complaints faded away. You could sense it, when you checked the posts on Beoworld. Now - I start to think, B&O don't care at all. If you have a look on ebay, you will find the BS Moment more often. It seems, these sellers are the lost B&O-customers.
It seems B&O is set on the new devices, like the A1 or the BL 35, the R&D-wallet is too empty to finally fix the BS-Moment

Its a shame that you experience these problems after the upgrade. You should have your dealer confirming the setup with the Avant. You must add the Moment under Integration in the Avant settings.
The only problem I experience after the upgrades are the ones regarding the MoodWheel that many have reported.
Agree that the Moment was in a very good shape before the last upgrades.
Hi,
I have may problems since the last update too (Covers, Moodwheel, etc.)
I have also noticed, that the serch funktion for the artist view isn't working anymore. The "one-letter-serach" was bad, but no this function is gone.
Do you have the same problem? Or is this only at my device?
Take a deep breath, be calm, get a good night's sleep and no matter what happens, everything will be OK in the next update...

Hi Hiort,
thank you for your condolences and your help, I' ve tried to add the Moment under Integration on the Avant - but after the 1. factory reset, the Avant could not find any other devices and the Moment showed the Avant in the Speaker-Settings, but I could not choose it (just tapping on Avant 55, crashed the device) It needed a second factory reset to get it done. The only thing I don't like in my new setup - besides the awfull updates - is, that even if I create a sound-group with the external Speakers only (attached to the Avant), the whole magic (rising Stand, extracting speakers, switching on Screen) is stillneeded. I would have prefered something like: Avant stays dark and down and powers the external speakers only - when I decide to use the Moment.
@ Chris
I try to stay calm, but you should hear my wife, when The Moment is again not working. The Ouverture, was such a easy device - it just worked.
Just thinking, how the Moment worked before the latest updates, makes me grrrrrrr.

Hi MircoHH,
Artist search "isn't working anymore" means "that someone at B&O decided scrolling through 721 artists can be so much fun". You are right - double tapping on Artist will do nothing. The "crutch" one-letter-search is gone. Maybe we have to kneel and crawl before B&O, before they will give us a proper search-funktion. Someone from B&O needs to step down and someone up to show some responsibilities for this product.
Maybe someone at B&O thinks, B&O giveth and B&O takes it away - who cares? Hand over the money and shut up!

I think this is the worst product B&O ever made.
Now we are 1.5 year further down the road and still so much troubles.
B&O Shame yourself!
I totally agree! It is a shame for B&O and for us! Wie paid 2000 Euro for this s****t!
I found another error since the last update of my Beosound Moment.
In my twonky server setup, the moment now appears twice! Before the update, there was only one entry.
Hi MicroHH,
Are you sure the artist setting is correct? If you go to General/Display the setting A-Z Artist (or similar) should be switched on; if off you cannot search.
Peter
Double listing happends allot. Network reboot usually helps.
Hiort:Strange. On my Moment, the "one letter search" still works (double-tap Artist). Double-tap Discover give search in Deezer. Double-tap Radio give search in Tunein

Hi Peter,
you made my Day. Thank you.
After a factory-reset the setting A-Z Artist (or similar) is from now on switched off by default - even if you activate in the very first-setup-routine the cover-view option. What I can not fathom, why is B&O changing this. I did several (30-50) factory resets, since I own this device, the so called "search" was activated by default. Now it is not. Btw. How could anybody know, that this option, will deactivate the search in Artists?
But this issue is solved, thanks to you.
@all
The other issue with the missing artist-tiles for my own content is solved too. If you have to perform a factory-reset, don't forget to switch-on cover-view in the very first-setup-routine. B&O changed this too. Now the cover-view is not marked by default anymore. If you forget this and activate the cover-view later in the Settings-General-View, the BS Moment will show the artist-tiles from Deezer only, the artist-tiles from your content will stay empty/grey.
I would fire the guy who had the Idea to change the default-settings. Speeding-up the first processing of the database is honorable - but when the result is, that the Moment is crippled even after changing the new default settings to their status before the update - I really hate that.
I was forced to do a factory reset. Adding a avant to my setup and removing the NL-Converter was to much to process for the BS-Moment. If you just performed a "ordinary" update without a factory-reset, you won't recognize these issues, because the update won't alter your settings. So - be aware, when you decide to start from scratch.
Cheers Beroli
thank your very much. This was the solution for one of my problems with Beosound Moment.
Nobody knows, why this function was switched of after the update

I will do that, but I agree with Koning. The device is out now 1,5 years and it is stiil far from working flawless. We all paid a premium for it. Having again and again setbacks, because B&O won't get the device finished or because they cripple it with another halfcooked update, just tires.
Being afraid to use a Soundsystem, because it's stuck again and maybe you have to do another pin-reset, is something quite new and unusual for longterm B&O customers. B&O is celebrating themselfes for every little new Streaming Speaker they throw on the market - but they can not live up to their own expectations, when it comes to the BeoSound. I am a Beta-Tester for more than a year - it is just frustrating. I tried o help in many ways. I wrote a lot , meet and spoke with people in charge, but the only thing they do, is telling you about a upcomming update, a upcomming better search, a time when a paperclip is not a mandatory tool for a so called luxury soundsystem. I don't want to hear apologises or some knd of empty promisses - I just want that they get it done.
It would be a good thing if we could roll back to an earlier update now in case of the Moment. I hate it to check my Moment everyday two times to see if the fix is provided on the B&O servers.
Beroli:B&O is celebrating themselfes for every little new Streaming Speaker they throw on the market - but they can not live up to their own expectations, when it comes to the BeoSound.
Now need to celebrate for B&O, for as long customers have to use a crippled application called BeoMusic. Users who find this application full-featured have never used a well designed remote before with easy, sophisticated browsing of your entire music library and playlists.
Oh well, let's check our update button on the Moment's menu once more.
koning: I think this is the worst product B&O ever made.
I think it is a great product, and I enjoy using it everyday. Since the last three updates it works flawlessly for me.
However, reading about other peoples problems, we can agree it does not work flawlessly across the board.
Compared to older/traditional B&O products there are three things B&O needs to solve imo:
1. Integration with non B&O hard and software. The Beosound Moment is not just that; yes, it is the Soundhart/JukeBox which is fully under B&O's control, but there is also Deezer as a service (which can have disruptions), Deezers API (which can change), Twonky Server (different versions you need to support), other DLNA servers people choose, the hardware people run Twonky/DLNA on (different chipsets) as well as the users internet connection (provider / router etc). All these components are important to let, what we call the Beosound Moment, function properly. And unfortunately, it is impossible for B&O to test all the combinations that users have. Moreover, not all dealers (or should I say very few) are technically savvy enough to understand the problems, where they come from / how to fix them.
Possible solution: test a limited number of Hardware / DLNA server / BeoSound Moment combinations (possibly including router), train the dealers on these combinations and sell it with the Beosound Moment.
2. Reliance on software development and testing. Of course software has been part of B&O products for a long time (also for example in the Beolabs) but not to the same extend as in the Moment (maybe the exception is the Beosound 5 which is similar, but because of its set up with the integrated box to store music has less integration problems as the Moment, see 1.). From what I can see B&O currently is not world class in their software development and testing processes (for example regression testing, ie checking if previously correct software still works) are below par.
Possible solution: put more focus on testing, invite users to do real life Beta testing.
3. Speed of development. Traditionally B&O is used to build a product and then sell it without major changes to the product. I am not sure if this approach still holds. Users would be good with getting a (well functioning, see 1 & 2) first version of a product that would be enhanced over time. This way you can develop something great and based on user feedback tweak it to be something awesome. B&O still has the attitude "we think what is right for you" and to a large extend they are correct (IAsking users in advance what they want does not generally lead to something great; As Henry Ford famously stated: "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses"). However, once the basic concept has been developed, there is no harm in listening to your user base and tweak the product accordingly (for example, better search seems to be an almost unanimous request) and be transparant about what you develop / the "roadmap" so you can set expectations.
Anyway, my 2 cents.
Hi Chris,
you are doing a really great job. We are so gratefull for your effort and perseverance. Mostly I switch the auto-update of and wait until I read the reviews, but the time before the latest update I forgot it. Since then 😡. I totally agree with your statement. Getting the advise to use the BeoMusic App instead, makes me wonder, why I have a jukebox on the Soundheart. Altough, I barelly use it while wanderung through my apartment, because it is mostly unreliable and the paperclip is stationed where the Soundheart is. It seems that the Display on my Jukebox is warmer as it should be. Now the wooden surface on the other side starts to crack on several places. 😱
Beroli: It seems that the Display on my Jukebox is warmer as it should be. Now the wooden surface on the other side starts to crack on several places. 😱 Cheers Beroli

What?? Now B&O has to wake up and start to get this thing right.. And the software department is horrible, hopeful some of the 30 new employers can get it on the right track..

Fully agree with you analysis!
Would add user testing i.e having real life customers A/B test e.g GUI alternatives before they are launched to get their view on how the intention with the GUI and functions work in real life. I certainly hope they already do this.
Some thinker said that software came to mankind 100 years to early
That may be true.

I am not at home right now and I do not know the SW version numbers by heart, but since December 2015 it works fine for me.
The malfunctioning of the Moodwheel is an interesting case; In the update before the last one the Moodwheel did not function (same symptoms as other have), but loggin out and back into Deezer solved it / made it function as before. I am also not sure why this worked for me and not for others, but I assume there must be another factor in play than just the software update itself otherwise it does not make sense.

I can add that Moment work very well of me as well, technically, apart from the mood wheel issue that several members have reported.
The connection to Twonky is now rock solid, and comes up after e.g restart of my iMac. That was not the case before. My DLNA content is played instantly when selected form Jukebox or Beomusic app.
Of course there are things in the GUI that could be improved, but generally it serves med very well on a daily basis.

Agree totally, I really despise using the BeoMusic App. Finding anything in a large library is virtually impossible, especially when using DLNA. I, for one, don't enjoy scrolling to find what I want. Even with Twonky's Index feature. Ugh.
Just give me search!
thank you for your 2 cents. I enjoyed reading it.
Regarding your solution to 1.
There is already a standard-configuration recommended and tested by B&O. It's a Twonky-based Server on a Mac. Most B&O-Stores are using this solution. I use a mac, bought just for the purpose to serve the BeoSound Moment. Why? More than a year ago, I could not use my own fast, reliable Synology NAS. The BeoSound Moment was not able to handle Servers without a Twonky-Implementation. I upgraded the whole network to a gigabit-network - as recommended from B&O. We all do and buy, what B&O-recommends just to get the BS Moment finally running. But still then B&O fails to deliver - even with the same setup like in the Stores. What a waste of resources. Just this fact makes me so frustrated.
You are handing over to much excuses to B&O. Why should I care about the Deezer-API? It's their business-partner, for crying out loud. I am pretty sure they have some agreements in place to support the R&D. The DLNA-protocoll is not something new, it's a “old“ standard. On the other side, it would be easy for most of us, to install a specific, tested Twonky-Server-Version and forget anything about updates. Sadly B&O is not even able to hand over specific informations - about their own Twonky-Server in their own Lab.
My Twonky-Server is running now perfect - no time-outs for weeks, no delays - as it should be. I am not the only BS-Moment-owner, who had to restart the BS-Moment from time to time to establish a connection to the server again, because the Jukebox (not the Soundheart) won’t show the content from the Twonky-Server. The Jukebox is the weak link in the BeoSound Moment. Maybe the tasks for it are already too much. Maybe therefore we don’t/won’t get/got a proper search.
Just my opinion - The issues we are facing, are not because of our setup.
Regarding 2. and 3. I totally agree on everything you wrote. Thank you for sharing your insights.
