I would really appreciate if Mercedes has a proper hybrid lineup soon. Seriously.
As for V1, my dealer said that most people misunderstood it and didn't like it. I have to say, I like the design a lot and also hope we will see soon enough more products of (such) industrial design. <3 <3 <3
It's amazing the junk Mercedes get away with !
i was at the Geneva motor show last week , looking at their cars and in detail their engineering has never recovered from the cynical cashing in of the brand with the original C Class.

My B&O journey started with the V1. I was in the market for a new TV, also had enough of traditional seperates (Rega, Quad, Rotel etc), so thought I would try it out. Got the V1 and some pre owned 4000's to live with it and see how I (and family) got on.
I still have the V1, but have added the lab18's and lab19 over the last 3 years. When we move in the next few months I will be lucky enough to look at a bv11 or avant for the main set up and use the V1 somewhere else in the house. Job done V1.

That sounds like a plan to me!

Pretty darn similar to you ....
the listed finishes indicate a plastic casing . The rod that goes through it does not allow for a wall mounting . If it has to be explained to you......

There's no TV menu and the V1 is all the way down the bottom. v1 nomenclature means nothing to anyone. The picture that is used doesn't even make you want to click on it as you don't even know it's a TV.

I noticed it was hidden in the Beoplay website, not just because it's the only item in the range not sold on-line. It's as if they don't want to give away all that technology for only £2500 .
It may look great on the wall - i'm a huge V1 fan.
However, it's that tube steel wall bracket that looks not that great - it looks like a childs play land toy, swing set et al. Other brackets however I really loved, such as the Havanna Brown "tea lady" trolley.
But in answer to the OP. I'm not sure if there was a panel update, but products are regularly updated, so ... it may be the case. People with the V1 such as John swear by it :-)
Some of you guys might know the danish furniture maker and architect Hans J. Wegner.
He has created a lot of worldknown, well regarded chairs.
His preferred material was wood - that is how we know him.
However, he has made (at least) one chair in metal - called 'Flaglinestolen'.
Maybe that was where the designer of the BeoPlay V1 got his inspiration
Friends of mine have one, and I can assure you, that it looks beautiful 'in the flesh'.
And it is very comfortable - maybe not for tv-viewing, but certainly for music listening.
By the way - you can have three or four V1-40's for the price of one of these.
Want to buy one - look here:

This is how it looks:

I think the mistake for the V1 was its H U G E price. £2500 is crazy for basically a £500 picture TV with good sound - the Loewe TV which Mark Leedee owns is very simular in design & performance but probably a bit nice at 20% less price wise. It just must be a very tiny segment of the market who can spend that in todays 4K driven market. £1999 it might have sold who knows? I liked the white very much but thought the dark grey made it look very bland and not a nice design. Strange how colour can effect design isn't it!
A Rolls Royce is a BMW 7 series in a different tin. Some people prefer the RR tin.
I grew up with a analog B&O TV and a Beosound 3000 + 2 Beolab 6000. The inter-connectablilty between the products was never used, so I knew B&O but never really knew the full capability of the systems.
But I too bought the V1 as my first B&O product. Which since has led to the purchases of a Beolab 14.4, Beoplay A9 and a Beoplay A2.

Do not mistake the V1 for a 500£ TV with a metal chassis and a 1500£ premium.
The V1 is so much more than a TV with decent sound. First of all you get the Beosys4 which is superior to any other TV on the marked. The ability to connect any B&O speaker, and with ease get a perfect sound for any given B&O product combination is priceless for me.
But that wasn't the thing I like the most to begin with. The ability to control almost any device with the Beo4 remote is so underrated. I have an AppleTV and a Bluray connected to my V1. Both are controlled by the V1 as they were a part of the V1.
So on top of the very good picture and sound experience you get an internal surround system and control of you external devices. The convenience of those two extra thing in the daily use of the TV is just incredible.
Sure you pay a premium for the TV. But you must compare the price point to a comparable system. In order to get the same functionality out of a standard LG TV, you need to buy a surround receiver and a universal remote. And then you are left with a fragmented system, that takes up a lot of space.
Due to the V1 I'm pretty sure my next TV is going to be a B&O TV. But as of right now I'm satisfied with the V1.

Very true Mikael but whether the BS4 video engine was truly necessary for the play market i'm not sure - although when you put it in all of the portfolio of TVs, it will of course be cheaper to manufacture etc.
Sadly, it's clear to see that the price was a little too high for the intended market due to poor sales. But as I've said many times, I liked the white one - I just didn't lust for one like a BV11/BV10. But i'm sure the V1 if it's anything like my BV6 that I had many many years ago, will be a very classy set!
The V1 is used as an entry level product to showcase what B&O is all about. So leaving out the BS4 would be a huge mistake if you ask me.
If the V1 didn't have the BS4 then I would have never bought a Beolab14.4 and probably wouldn't even consider buying a true B&O TV.
The V1 has become more expensive has the marked has dropped in price. When the V1 was released it wasn't that much more expensive than any other high end LCD.
At least they haven't dumped it at Costco like the A8 .
Theory. What if B&O has realised that the V1 is too cheap?
I'm thinking that V1 was launched cause B&O were considering afull entry-line series to steal some customers from the lowend segment.
A cheap product can be okay if B&O sell lots and lots of it. Lots of V1's on the market means that people are upgradig and/or buying more - like stated in this thread.
But as it doesn't sell that well could mean that the people that buys the V1 doesn't choose it over a Samsung/LG but over a BV11/Avant where B&O makes more money pr. unit. And let's face it. If you consider BV11 40".. Then why not a V1 at half the price? You get alot for your money.
What i mean is that the V1 is too good, not to expensive. If B&O wants to compete with Samsung and LG they need to make TV's with lower specs (No BSys4 / PUC etc) and that's not a market that B&O, in my opinion should go into.
Does it make any sense?

At least it's out there :-)
I don't know, if the already have stopped the production - if not, they will do it in a short while.
Now - just waiting for something new

The V1 is still on the Beoplay site:
