Chris Townsend:

I wonder what inspired them to make another Bluetooth speaker? A multi room device maybe?

Looks nice, but unfortunately i I don't need one.

Still.... Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Beovision 8-32, Avant RF 28, Beolab 9, Beolit 15, Beoplay A2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H6, Form 2.

I am pretty sure in time like a Sonos can be joined to make a pair of stereo speaker

As the A2 and Beolit15 got stereo bluetooth-pairing i guess this is an Mono speaker which can be upgraded to Stereo if u buy a second.

That is not visually attractive speaker , in my opinion. Too complex looking .

I'm sure it'll sound good though.

Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1

I like it, but then I really like the BL19, and even the old 1970's Design Acoustics D-12 big dodecahedron omni-directional speaker.

That old seventies cube like speaker Stick out tongue, never had a change to listen to it in the store who sold it on order. Think Audio Technica bought that company?

This web site has a picture of exactly the kind I had for a short time, same color and everything:

http://rhanvintage.blogspot.com/2011/05/mid-century-modern-stereos-and-speakers.html

They are down a bit on the page. Mine were the same, blonde wood with bright turquoise grills and a chrome base. I got them used years and years after they weren't made anymore. Didn't sound too bad considering the garbage drivers in them, cheap paper cone tweets and mid. There was a D12W I think the designation was later, that had two changes, front facing dome tweeter, and a switch to change between omnidirectional and half sphere radiating pattern.

The place I worked back in the day sold Design Acoustics, and they all were odd, but all sounded a lot better than you'd have expected, for the time they were pretty good. HIghest up we sold was the D10. A lot of people took the stands off the D12's an hung them upside down from chains and eye hooks drilled into the ceiling. Really hip man, hip I say! Big Smile

If it is a WISA speaker i will love that, then i can have multiple speakers running from the Avant in other areas of the house (potentially).  I love the shape - its the same as the BL19 :-)

It won't be WISA. It's a PLAY product. (WISA is BANG&OLUFSEN - a bit like going into a MINI showroom and expecting to find BMW 7 series features on a MINI). Play is Plug and play because that's what the majority of the smartphone generation want. They are the music on the move anywhere generation. It's Bluetooth. WISA at present is expensive and probably not aimed at the smartphone driven sales market.

I like the shape very much. I'm curious to see how it sounds... Does it have a battery?

BeoPhile site's photo shows a 8 power inlet - hopefully it is charging as well as playing but seems unlikely.
