I didn't say they don't give a better sound but for the difference of price this is really minor for usual use.

the beolab 5 worth every penny paid.

I also imagine the cost of a fault with so many amps/cards/...

It is not a lifetime guarantee.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Had a listen one month ago.

What did you listen to?

The 90's or the (by you mentioned) 50's???

this is a bl90 thread not a 50. I never spoke about the 50.

I listened to music I know perfectly (usual soft rock, acoustic music and electronic lounge music that use massiv bass and highs)

I was so disappointed by the results that I prefered stopping my listening. That's really hard words but at this time I found the price outrageous compared to the little plus it will provide

ok that's a ferrari but for my daily use I prefer driving my honda ctr.

again that's my rational opinion, I admit someone can dream of them and consider that its a good investment for his use.

Listening to speakers everyone praise, with huge capabilities, in a showroom (probably not calibrated) is probably not the best way to enjoy BL90. Like looking at a tesla instead of driving it. Also you already have expensive beolab 5's that probably affects your judgement. Remember BL90 is all about multiple positions with excellent stereo separation. It can stand anywhere in your room and be calibrated to compensate for the room and give you a sound almost no other speaker can.

Except for that it also has inputs for almost everything. Quite different from the BL5s.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

when you have in a showroom such expensiv speaker, you calibrate them.

i listened to them in good condition. if their adaptation capabilities are a strength, whatever the place they should be at their optimum. they sounds good but for a bl5 owner( already excellent speaker for its price), the jump is not justified, everything considered.

I asked the dealer if he thought that many of his bl5 owner (and he has plenty) would make the bl90 choice. He told me that it will concern another kind of customer, not only for a financial point of view.

@olvisab

Please accept my apologies - you certainly did not!

That/BL50 was mentioned by BestBoy68 on the previous page, I now reread ;-(

And this IS a BL90's thread, yes!

I just was annoyed, that 'someone' starts to mention something (a BL50) as it is for real.

There is no BL50!

There might be 'something' coming. But - if there is - then they certainly haven't picked a name for it.

And NOONE - apart from the makers - would have heard it yet.

So, as for the BL90's.....I have listened to those several times.

They are excellent speakers - of course you will need a room of a certain size to be well with them.

They can do everything - even YouTube clips sound good played through them ;-)

The first time I read on this forum that the new Bl 5 will arrive next year, it is at least 6 years ago.

Each year we hear the same song.

I hope it will finally arrive because it will help to find more bl5 on the secondhand market.

MM don't apologize for that. the beoboy68 post has not clarified the discussion.

People were probably thinking of that, what became the BL90's.

Something that most people could not image coming.

As for what speakers are coming 'next year' a I'd rather just be patient and - when it happens - surpriced.

I spoke about the bl90 not the 50.

That's just my opinion as a beolab 5 owner and plainly satisfied by them.

I was not impressed neither by its look. Found them smaller than expected (that is not so bad finally). I believed they were 20 cm taller.

For me they look far less high end than the futuristic beolab 5.

I know someone else who owns a pair of beolab 5 that will listen to them soon. He can afford them (I don't) and I am waiting for his opinion.

As an owner of the 90's and having had the 5's for over 12 years, I think your comments are fair. My argument would be that the 90's voice and image differently than the 5's with the emphasis on accuracy on the 90's compared to what I will term a "well tuned, rounded and likeable sound" from the 5s. The 90's are not as bright as the 5's in the upper frequencies but the bass detail is far superior.

As for cost/value/worth, that is very subjective and personal. Many non-B&O fans may cringe at the sound to price ratio on any BeoLab with the 90's being the ultimate extension in a technical world of dimishing returns. There are many who would state that the BL20's are about as sane as they would go in any purchase and anything more is frivolous to the extreme.

The BL90's were always marketed as a extreme. It is thus only a personal choice to buy and not one where it is in my opinion fair game to critique the product on its merits. It's pure binary.

With respect to trickle-down, I still maintain that it has to be below the 5's and significantly closer to the 20s than the 5s. How they do that with technical compromises I do not know. BeoLab 90 technology is not cheap as it relies on 3 pairs of loudspeakers in a pair of cabinets to make it work.  You also have to remember that although the 90s and 5 are "successful" products, they do not nor have they every been numerous in production run. I would not be surprised if there were only 1000-2000 BL5s ever made.

Is the new software for beolab90 already released? If yes, any insights regarding the new features of it.

That is very true. And I wonder if people have been putting off purchases for all that time.

One thing the BL90 has done in my opinion is to make the BL5s feel more "affordable".

Hi,

Download BeoTool App

Download Beolab 90 App

Connect BL90 to interweb/router using the 3rd DPL/Ethernet socket.

Switch on a trigger source.

BeoTool will bring-up the status of the BL90's, where its routed and any links to on-line sources - Tunein/Deezer etc (not active yet). Check that there is a connection otherwise the BL90 App wont function.

Beolab 90 App will also kick-in.

If necessary, power down the Master for +10 secs and reboot.

Should work as far as it is developed right now.

I love that you bought the 90s :-). It never matters what others think of any purchases you make.  It's your money - do as you will.  Its better depreciation than buying a car of the same value haha.

Id just love to see them and play with them.
