Thanks! All seems to be working now except for an old iOS library that the Essence is seeing and which is still grayed out. But I don't use that library anymore so it is not a problem Still have to figure out how to reformat my cover art on the Beomaster 5 as much of it does not display in the app.
My main issue I would like to resolve, is when I select a track within an album, sometimes it cycles through all of the tracks, switching tracks every few seconds without starting to play any of them. Is that an app glitch or am I doing something wrong?

That must be an app glitch. I experience the same thing from time to time.
Thanks! Glad to know it is not me doing something wrong. My only other problem with the Essence is now I want a Moment to play with also. Don't need it of course, with a Beosound 5 and an Essence, but then again I don't think there is any B and O product that anybody really "needs".
I was hoping the update to the app would solve the problem, but unfortunately it is still there after this week's update.

It can be also your server or your network. I have this sometime but I find it almost always a network or server issue!
I would start to restart the app (and clear the cache of the app) though. Than search for the server again.
Thanks for the suggestion. Undortunately it did not solve he problem.
If I go to the all tracks menu, and select a track,it will play that track, then the next track, and so on, until it gets to the tracks that I can not select. When it gets to those, it does the same thing, displays the track but does not play it, and moves on to the next track. The problem seems to happen most frequently with albums that have many tracks, but occurs both with tracks that were installed on the Beomaster 5 from a CD and downloaded tracks.

Millemissen: @Razlaw If you are on Windows, use MP3Tag. http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html It requires a bit of work - when I was still doing this a lot, I prefered MP3Tag to the more 'automatic' methods. I have never done it on a Mac, so ? MM
@Razlaw
If you are on Windows, use MP3Tag.

i have a very old very outdated windows laptop (I use Apples). I tried MP3Tag on it but could only use a very old version of MP3Tag and it did not seem to have a function to modify cover art.
I am tempted to purchase a very cheap Windows laptop and thus be able to use the latest version of MP3Tag. I just wanted to confirm, that with MP3Tag I should be able to change the cover art resolution?
My previous post, with a question asked, has been "verified". So, does that mean the answer to my question is yes?
Thanks
The MP3Tag application let's you modify, exchange the coverpic.
MP3Tag has been doing basicly the same things for years - I don't see a problem in using an older version.
If you don't find the right one in the linked databases/on the internet, you can easily resize your own pic and reuse that.

I purchased a new Windows Laptop so I could use MP3Tag and a couple other things I need a Windows computer for. Unfortunately I can not get the new computer and MP3Tag to connect to my Beomaster 5. It the computer wants me to put in a user name and password for the Beomaster 5. I know the password but do not remember what the user name is, or if there even is one for the Beomaster 5.
Any thoughts? help? for an Apple user trying to use MP3Tag on a Windows computer? Thanks!

Hi Razlaw,
I can't remember either - If I recall correctly it's "BM_USER" or "BM-USER" (or something like that), but if you install the beoconnect application on the laptop it will just require the password and will then set up the network access to the BM5 disk for you.
You can download the software here: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/customer-service/product-support/sound-systems/beosound-5
Kind Regards,
Martin.
Thanks. I did as you suggested and installed Beoconnect. I also entered the password there for the Beosound 5. I received the same message in MP3Tag asking for user name and password. I tried BM-USER as you suggested and it seemed to work. But now when I try to select Bombaster 5 as the directory, I get an error message saying You can't open this location using this program. Please try a different location.
Have you mapped the BM-drive on your computer?
That way you can have full access to it.
Depending on your network (connections beteeen the devices), it might take a little time for correcting the files of the BM.

I am not sure what you mean by mapped? If I open BeoConnect, I can select copy. After choosing that a box appears that is empty except for a blue line across the the top, that looks like a progress bar, but is solid blue and does not change or appear to show any progress. The options I have to click on are (if I remember correctly) OK and cancel. Clicking on OK closes the box. Cancel is grayed out.
I believe he means mapping a network drive to a drive letter. So you can reference the BM as, for example, "X:\".
One way to do this is to open Windows Explorer, and then right click on your "Computer" (or "My PC" or something similar) icon and select "Map network drive...", and, if all goes well, it is fairly simple to follow the directions to make it happen (use the default drive letter the system suggests, and click the "browse" button and select the BM). In this way, an application really doesn't know it's talking to a network drive, it just sees it as "X:\". Of course, if all doesn't go well (like the BM doesn't show up as a possible network location in the "browse" window), then expect hours of frustration
Then again, I sort of recall BeoConnect mounting the BM as a drive letter already, but I'm probably mistaken - I haven't ripped any CDs to my BM5 is quite some time.

I assume you have windows 10 since it is a new computer. Good old Microsoft like to "simplify" these types of settings between releases which complicates trouble shooting when you only have an older version. I need to rip a couple CDs so maybe I will give this a shot tomorrow and see if I can get this to work again. However, I only have win7 so it might be a bit different.
If you can get BeoConnect to connect to your BM5, it should automatically mount the BM5 as drive Z:\
I just went through this on a Win8.1 laptop.
1) Turn off the firewall on your laptop.
2) Install BeoPlayer and then turn it off (find the B&O symbol in the Windows "tray" - the little icons at the bottom right of the screen - then right click and select "exit")
3) Install BeoConnect (I rebooted before this worked, but I think this had more to do with not remembering how to turn off BeoPlayer - but rebooting never hurts).
4) BeoConnect was able to find my BM5. If you don't remember your password, just go into the BS5 advanced config mode (select "Settings" with the wheel, then <<, >>, <<, >>, GO ) and assign a new one. You can also find the IP address and user name in here as well (but I didn't need this because BeoConnect figured it out on it's own).
So, luckily, no mucking around with Windows, just B&O software. Hopefully, B&O already ironed out any issues with Win10 so whatever you ran into doesn't apply.
I have a post in moderation that says you must install BeoPlayer before BeoConnect. This is wrong. I mis-read a web page. You just need to install BeoConnect, and when it connects to the BM5, it will automatically mount the BM5 as Z:\. You should then be able to use your other utility to manage your files through the Z:\Music vs. any of the Windows mumbo-jumbo from last night.
Actually, upon closer inspection, it only mounts the BM5 on Z:\ if you first go into "Settings" (right click on the BeoConnect "tray" icon, and select "Settings"), then click "Apply" (if you want to use a different drive letter you can change it there as well).
Hopefully, no more mistakes. Sorry about sharing my confusion with you.
Does BeoConnect actually connect to the BM5?
The "B&O" in the BeoConnect tray icon turns black when connected vs Grey when not connected vs red when transferring.
If it's not black, then I think you need to first go into "manage devices" and select the BM5 (move from left window to right), then use "select device" which should give you the bm5 as a choice and you select it. At this point, the "B&O" should alternate 1/2 black 1/2 gey until either giving an error or turning fully black Once it is all black, it might take a few minutes, but the BM should show up in the file browser (windows explorer) along with Z:

In the unfortunate event that this still isn't working, I will take another stab at this in a few weeks when my son gets home from college with his win10 laptop. Although I am afraid that according to Windows traditions, something that works for me probably will not work for you
Thank you for all of your help. I have tried multiple "solutions" to this problem that I found online. None of them worked. So for now, I am giving up.
