Chris Townsend:B&O, just make a simple to use and operate Tv, using the best materials and technology on the planet, all wrapped up in a classic elegant timeless design. Leave smart functionality to folk who know what they're doing, and charge a relative pittance for it.
I could not agree more, Chris. I never used any of the "Smart TV" functionalities of my V1-40. I just want a "classic" and "timeless" TV, with the best picture and sound money can buy, controllable with my beloved Beo4, and of course with the signature B&O feature that stops me from buying a TV set from another brand: The builtin BeoSystem 4.
After (only) one evening of viewing I have the impression that the quality of the picture processing has improved a lot. The side-effects are (nearly) gone. The Beoremote One BT has not lost connection. The period of time is short, but I am hopeful. Unfortunately the bass management bug appears to be still there....
Have added my findings here: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/22816.aspx
Ok not many hours spend BUT it seems to be much more stable now
As it should be from the beginning!
I know there is an update coming in week 10....more bugs fixing and multiroom.
But for now it is still some bugs left:
* Curtain does not run smoothly
* The "bluish" problem is less but not good enough. (week 10)
* I will, when I press TV button on remote, that TV not will go on. You can not take away the sourse from TV button.
It seems that if you apply , lets say, room adaption it stays as you have set it after a standby
Another thing that is strange is that Beoremote does not work. I have asked Beocare and they said it not plan for a release yet

Pardon me for my ignorance, but what is this 'Cinema options' added to the remote?
It must be very important to B&O, since adding something new is more important than wiping out all bugs.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
A new bug
Never seen Before:-(
Also applied the update and menus seem to be quicker but nothing much has changed:
- Netflix still doesn't work half the time
- When Netflix works it does not play 4K content as the TV is not 4K certified from Netflix
- Room adaption does not produce a noticeable effect. Tried measuring the screen brightness level with a lux meter on my ipad, and the screen stays the same in a dark or well-lit room, regardless of the actual setting. It worked before the update
- Random services crash at random
To me, the only real progress made here is that the TV now shows up as a Spotify Connect device.
Chris Townsend:This is the new Leica M10 It improves on its 100 year history of superlative build quality, and state of the art materials by removing some functionality! No smart modes or scene settings, simple simple simple. This version actually had the video function removed because it's loyal fan base didn't want it. So the Germans removed it, and bumped up the price. The waiting list is massive. B&O, just make a simple to use and operate Tv, using the best materials and technology on the planet, all wrapped up in a classic elegant timeless design. Leave smart functionality to folk who know what they're doing, and charge a relative pittance for it. It's worked for Rolex, Porsche, Leica etc for decades, it can still for you.

Yes, and I can attest that Leica are no different to B&O in releasing products with undeveloped, non-beta tested products with software bugs.
Just look at the firmware updates for the M240, SL, T, TL and Q. I reckon they are doing one or two a month every month.
The T has basically quadrupled in AF responsiveness since its release - something it should have come straight out of the box with.
And there are/have been problems with both those other marques too. I do not think B&O is alone on this.
Likewise, one has to look at the UI on some of the latest Panny 4k disc players. Load of rubbish! All very '90s software clunk to me.
I think the real problem is the software writers throughout the whole industry. I think they really have no idea on how to make a UI interface pleasurable, simple, yet comprehensive and easy on the eye. B&O just hired those who probably had a better eye towards UI, but more useless in programming than others.
SW developers are not doing UI or UX - there are designers/UX specialists for that, developers implement their wishes.
Knowing BO - their testing process is a mess.
ThatGuyFromDenmark: - When Netflix works it does not play 4K content as the TV is not 4K certified from Netflix
Is this the real reason why NF was disabled before? This would make me furious to find this out.
not sure anyone can say for sure....from what i understand, the smart tv part is still bought in from Phillips....and the issue lies there, in the relationship between Phillips and Netflix......shouldnt be the same issue with the LG tvs....i hope....that said, for most of the 4 months i've had the BV14, Netflix has worked.......and with 4K....

Netflix (in 4K!) works for 70% of the time... in the other 30% I get the -13 error message
yes, thats generally been the case for me.....though post update, i haven't got Netflix native app working.........my Amazon Fire TV 4K is delivering nice 4K to the BV14 through Prime Video and Netflix.....so not too bothered, but i can see how its an issue for some.....
Another crash:-(
i've also had plenty.....mainly triggered by pressing something (anything) on the remote, leading to a prolonged loop of crashing......
BeoGreg:Still can't understand how can so many issues occur and why it's taking sooooo long to rectify. Are other Android tv's the same ? No doubt that my BV11 is a keepper (good for my empty wallet thanks B&O).
Just for comparison, I have the Horizon, have installed the update and am still plagued by random glitches. I have also owned a V1-40 for a couple of years or so and have had no problems with any of the features. See Chris Townsend's earlier comment about the airline industry choosing iPad over Windows tablets for their EFBs; I suspect that B&O have made a decision to go for the mass market and don't appear too fussed about their relatively small band of loyal customers. I bought my first B&O product in 1972!
BBC iPlayer slow to launch, then watching 'Death in Paradise', when the well known flickering picture problem, followed by TV shutting down and restarting, via the Android screen. Has the update solved anything?
After installing the new software release I noticed only few improvements. The guide function is much more stable now. That is obvious.
The home screen is still one of the main issues. After having installed the software it worked for 2-3 times. But now it displayes only one line of apps and then freezes. It is not possible to navigate using the arrow-keys of the remote control. After a hard reset of the tv it's sometimes possible to use the home screen again. But even again for 1-2 times. Is there anybody else having the same problem?
