Hi Jacques,
I am delighted that your Beomaster 4400 performs as it was designed to do. I can only imagine what the sound quality is like.
I am also delighted to report that indeed McIntosh DOES make superb amplifiers.

I decided that I have had enough with the Beomaster 4400 and wrote the shop owner that I would like a full refund.
I mean this was supposed to be a completely refurbished Beomaster 4400 and priced accordingly, when in fact it is remarkably original with all its original red Roederstein capacitors and idle current trimmers in place.
All original in a classic car is wonderful, but not so in a 35 year old amplifier.
With use this amplifier is only going to get more “moody” and the sound quality, if you can call it that, worse.
The emotional side of me recognizes that this amp is trying to please, but the cold reality is what arrived here was not remotely what I was sold.
I hope it comes out well Jeff, we have all learned from this thread.
BTW, waiting for my BM 4400, should be here tonight, coming with car from McAllen TX, will post in another thread
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Gentlemen,
Can I point out that you can upload images in the "MEDIA" section via the MENU button at the top and access any or all of them in your posting
Regards Keith....
It does not work Keith, on my screen I cannot see anything below "Vintage B&O Products", so I cant choose anything below, later when the uploads gets a lot more pics it will be a heck of a job to find the pic you want.
In your pic the menu only shows down to Beo5 controls, below there is one more with TVs or something, you cant choose it.

I'm sorry to hear of all the problems Jeff, and I hope you can get the vendor to work things out for you and that he doesn't give you the run around. You seem like a sincere, honest, and forthright person who goes into things expecting that the person you deal with is the same, and sadly as you've discovered that's not always true. Hopefully that won't sour you on everyone, there are some good guys still out there but I admit that they seem to be getting harder to find these days.
I would have expected a lot of internal mods/changes, parts swapped out, etc. for what was called a full up restoration too, whereas it looks like maybe only one output transistor and a couple of associated components were fixed. Sad.
Once I had an NEC powered subwoofer that had a severe hum. I turned it into the warranty repair service shop here in town, and after they had had it for 3 months and still were giving me the "we're working on it" reply every time I inquired about it, I finally went down there and raised the roof. Turns out that they had done nothing on it, but were waiting for NEC to tell them what the noise/hum spec was so they could say it was within spec and they didn't have to do squat to fix it. And they scratched the lacquered gloss black top! They had to pay a furniture guy to buff it out and restore it.
I got it home, thought to myself, hmmm (or hummmm), stuck a cheater plug on the polarized power plug, reversed it and plugged it in the power socket on the wall, no hum!!! The damned power cord had been put on backwards by the factory, something you'd have thought the repair place would have had the smarts to check first off. Ah well, this place was legendary for bad service, I honestly have no idea how they stayed in business. And ultimately they didn't.
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Hi Jeff,
Thank you very much for the compliments, which are most appreciated. The qualities you mentioned are three of which I take great personal pride.
The shop has declined my request for a refund. Let’s just say that this has not been a positive experience, but it most certainly has not soured me on mankind.
Everyone here at BeoWorld has been just great to me, supportive and more than helpful and I thank you!!!

So, no refund, and a BM 4400 half ass working, I got mine yesterday so follow me, yours are working somehow, now lets get it working like it should.
We are lucky to have members who lives up to the compliments you rightfully got, and furthermore are ready to help.
Hi Søren,
Half ass working about sums it up. Now that I have a clear idea of what was and was not done I understand the mood swings this Beomaster is inclined to display.
From the time I received this Beomaster 4400 I was concerned about speaker cables, the S120.2 speakers themselves, etc., but the one constant was the problems followed the amplifier. The speakers are not my true taste, but they are fine as are the new speaker cables. The problem has been the amplifier from the beginning.
I don’t know how this is going to be resolved, but it will be. Right now the Beomaster 4400 is sequestered to my dinning room where it will stay, out of sight, if not quite out of mind.
One thing that DOES need saying is the members of BeoWorld are flat out the best! I am a member of several car clubs and they are wonderful as well, but not quite like the help and friendship you find here.
So if I haven’t said it often enough, thank you guys for everything.
And Søren, I am DELIGHTED that your Beomaster 4400 arrived and is giving you pleasure.
What a way to treat a repeat customer. One who, without a blink or a doubt, pulled several hundred dollars out of his pocket.I am baffled...
And if the seller is indeed the one, I have in mind, even more so.I hope, I'm wrong.
Martin
Søren, I am convinced that this beautiful Beomaster WILL be fixed eventually, and you can of course count on our - unfortunately remote - help to complete the job. The other Søren, the one with a sombrero , will surely inspire you!
As for the shop that sold it to you, well, tell us their name, you are just too kind

Well, if you go back a thread or two, we know the location: St Louis, Missouri, USA.
Sorry, Jeff, for your experience.
Rich: Well, if you go back a thread or two, we know the location: St Louis, Missouri, USA.
Home of the Arch, and also the location of the infameous Dred Scott court decision.
Also referred to as the "show me" state, though the vendor obviously wishes Jeff hadn't looked I guess.
I going to ask a favor, let’s move forward please. What happened was most unfortunate, but let’s not speculate on who or where, as nothing good will come of this. If you want more dialog on the subject, I am all for that, however I never mentioned names for a reason, so please honor my request not to play sleuth.
You know it is only human nature to want to do what we are asked not to do, but I am asking everyone to resist this urge. Please don’t make me wish I had never brought up the amp question in the first place.
Can I count on you?
Thanks,

Forget it, its behind us, Forward to new adventures, I'm sure Jeff will act in his way outside the forum, but let us get Jeff's BM going, New Thread Jeff ??
A new thread, excellent idea, and thank you very much for your understanding and compassion.
