Hi,

they look like the form2 foam; but no internal form; just plain foam all along the square thing; thickness around 8mm

Sorry I'm over 2 months late with this, but I did really intend to participate.  It looks like nobody did, so I guess I don't have to feel too badly about my tardiness.

Anyway, I finally got around to working on a prototype or proof of concept (or something).  The first thing I was going to try was cutting out a piece of foam the size of the old ear cushions, and an octagon shaped piece of black fret cloth.

Then use some contact cement to fasten the fret cloth to the foam.

Then use some contact cement to fasten the foam/cloth assembly to the Form 1.  The foam I found at the FLESS was thick enough that I thought the upper pad could be omitted for the repair.

I was encouraged by this 5 minute, sloppy prototype.  I might actually take some time in the coming days to try this as a real project.

A second thought I had was to cut a circular hole in the foam over the driver area.  If I do actually take some time to work on this, I will probably prototype both methods and see what sounds best.

Stay tuned.

More blah-blah, 0-1 photographs per post

Black fret cloth? No input form the FS?

What is the thickness of the original foam?  10mm?

Dug my form 1s from storage this evening.

Like everyone else they are missing foams. Anyone find a source to locate some more or is making some myself going to be the answer?

As far as I know from my experience, original foams don't last long (around 1 year), so the best way is to design yours and make them, or find existent foam for another headset that will suit your Form1

I can unfortunately only confirm that; had new ones - they didn't even last a year before getting crumbled and sticky Sad

And the double-sided tape wasn' t even holding the foam firmly from the beginning.

As I only use them temporarily with my PC for cutting audio files I just use them without foam. Not really comfortable Unsure

So maybe cutting some by yourself is the longer-lasting version (and cost-saving tooStick out tongue - not mentioning the job to find original ones). Last ones I got was some 4 years ago: build in czech but - see above.

I've changed the foam many times. Even had spare parts bought before the shops stock were sold out. But the spare ones also disintegrated. I placed my beloved Form 1 in the window as an art object and got a pair of Beoplay H8. Now the cat has closed the faith of the Form 1. She took a bite in the cord and now Form 1 only can function as a display object. Sadly.

Sounding good!!

Does the music even get through the thick foam? I thought about covering pieces of memory foam in lamskin leather, and make them appear more like the H6. I also need to replace the head strap with a thick black piece of leather, and then they are as good as new! If I ever get to it, I will also share my process - including the happy result.

Beosound 5 Encore + Beosystem 5500 + S45.2; BV7-40 MKV + BL7.1 + BL14.4+ AppleTV4; various link rooms with MCL2 A or MCL2 A/V + RL60.2 / CX100 / CX50 & Cona  / IWS2000; BG4000; Beosystem 1200 + BV1600.

Yes but it's muffled. I've tried this type of self adhesive foam and it definitely affects the clarity.

Speaker foam is more open and sounds much better.  I wrapped them in black velour:

Only a prototype, the wrap is a little untidy but they're comfy and sound great.  Mkii will be a machine sewn pocket into which I'll stuff the speaker foam.

I've also got some memory foam but it's way too dense to use over the driver so you'd need to cut a hole into it and I'm not sure the remaining ring will be very stable.  I'll try it and post :)

Hi alls,

My Form 1 Headphones arrived yesterday.Of course they needed some attention but it is in general good shape (alu plates, markings, units, all good).

The headband was dirty and whitening, so i put in water and brushed it with a scotchbrite sponge. I removed all the dusty coating, very dirty process, put gloves and protect the table and ended up with a clean and black headband which looks like cardboard. Can't figure out how it did look like when new and I may replace it with leather as another member did but for now I wanted to keep it "original".

Of course no foams at all. So here is my attempt:

I used yoga mat (6 mm thick) for the"spacers" and a foam plate from an old parcel protection (10 mm thick) for the ear pads).

The spacers:

Now cut at 15mm from the top (actually 14 is better). And another piece of red double sided adhesive tape.

I used a decommissioned pantyhose. Cut a small square, wraps it around starting with the corners. stick it to the double sided adhesive.

Cut the remains tight.

The ear pads:

Same technique.
Stick it all with double sided tape (maybe not red this time!).
I need to do it all again with a little more attention and care but it works!. Don't know about original foam density but i've tried it like that (not for hours though) and it's quite comfortable enough, no strong pressure on the ears or temple. But I must say that you look really weird with those headphones on!
But I like a lot some little details like the B&O logo where the two wires splits and the marking on the jack plugs.
Hope it helps!

Hi Matador43, it's a good idea, instead of searching for adequate aftermarket foam units, you decided to build yours; it's exactly what I need to do now for the side foams; I still have some fabric left from the one I bought to repair my Pentas mk II; I just need to find a yoga mat Smile

Thanks for the idea.

Hi alls,

I did refine a little bit my technique and end up with thinner, more flat pads with less fabrics folds thus sticking better to the headphone.
Here is a step by step "how-to" if anyone interested. Regards…
