Maybe this only applies to the Wednesday forum where there is (was) a tendency to respond to witty comments by using a string of faces.
To do that, without clicking numerous times on the smiley menu, it was very quick and easy to type empty square brackets in pairs: [][][][][]

Oh I use laughter all the time, even when not on the Wednesday(c) thread ... but what I was trying to say was that your ALT 3 trick does not work for me (it moves my display for desktop 3) and ALT SHIFT 3 generated the sign ‹
So I seem to be stuck with clicking the symbol and then copy and pasting the string
But you are right that the Apple keyboard combo of ALT 3 does generate a #, and that the symbol is made up from [ L # ]

Members status as shown on the web site is 100% correct, BUT currently may be incorrect on the forum ONLY. If you want to check the status of your membership, go to the home page of the Beoworld web site and on the right under "My Beoworld" will be your current status. I would suggest that all members check their status because for a period of time reminder e-mails were not being sent out.

There is currently an unresolved issue I am working on where the web site transfers your status via an encrypted cookie, however, the forum is not currently picking up that status correctly.
Members status as shown on the web site is 100% correct, BUT currently may be incorrect on the forum ONLY.
If you want to check the status of your membership, go to the home page of the Beoworld web site and on the right under "My Beoworld" will be your current status. I would suggest that all members check their status because for a period of time reminder e-mails were not being sent out.
I've never received an email reminder, it usually just one day shows as bronze ....like now I think
