Went to Whitby last night, fought our way through lots of stylishly dressed people, the ladies looking particularly fetching, to view the Abby all illuminated....check out the spiders web in the corner.
Nice picture - I can just imagine the smell of Fortune's kippers wafting up to the abbey!
Pre Amp next.......lots of tantals on this board, some easier to access than others.
Half way point....had a couple of days away to re charge the battery's, and to await delivery of parts from RS.
Got the last capacitor replaced in this board and now the delicate job of jostling everything back into place without disturbing any of the accursed single strand wires, is there a reason B&O used single strand as opposed to stranded wires?, are they more audio signal friendly.....seems like they never did anything without a pretty good reason.......
All tucked away and following the customary visual inspection powered up to see if I have set the project back or moved it forward.....Pink Floyd's Dark side plays fine......that's pretty much all the difficult fellows replaced, should be easier going from here.
the big 10,000uf smoothing cap looks a proper "video nasty"....not the easiest to replace either as the wires are so short.
It has leaked over the wires and made them very sticky, it's also swollen fit to burst....measured up at 6,900uf so a little out of spec....it's odd as most of the others I have measured when taken out have measured higher than the rated capacitance
Indicator ribbons next.......I find it easier to use a bit of blu tack to hold them in place before pushing the retaining clips in.
All done...no drama.
Good to get this all secured again.....always afraid of damaging something with this assembly flopping around inside the main chassis.
tuning indicator all replaced and a couple of bulbs later all is looking good, dial cord needed a little attention as it kept slipping off the tuning wheel...fiddled with it for a while and all is now well.
Approaching the end game now, just a dozen or so more caps to replace on the keypads and box her up, tested the FM radio and given I don't have a decent Arial (just a length of co axial cable) the reception was pretty good.
Looking good Craig! I’m thinking about looking for a set of Beovox P50s to complete the look but think the wife would swing for me!
Last of the little fellows replaced.......
Finished and on test in place of my own 6000, will try my Beocord with it next and see how it performs, only job left is for you to collect Dave....
Bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc will be the required recompense ;¬)
Craig
Craig fantastic work!
Your recompense awaits!
Dave......that's very generous of you, I have to say it gave me lots of pleasure......but those bottles will give me and Debbie a lot more ;¬)
Nice work indeed!- As always.
I reject most repairs to these machines. They are beautiful creations but so incredibly time consuming to work in.Good to know where to send future requests...
Martin
That's very thoughtful of you to say.....but lets not overlook the fact that without the support and advice of yourself and the other members of this site these restorations wouldn't be possible, and I do like a challenge from time to time.......just make sure you stick around to provide guidance ;¬)
This is a beautiful thread. Congratulations and thanks to everybody involved

Finally collected the BM6000 from the talented and gracious Craig over the holidays but arrived home to find a speeding fine from the journey up!
I was going to give the system a four channel work out so I went to connect the front and rear speakers and Sod's law - one of the speaker terminal tangs snapped off and it got pushed inside! Just my luck!
I've opened her up and positioned the connecter back in place with a few dabs of epoxy to secure it both inside and out. I did this to the other terminals as a precaution as another looked particularly suspect. Hopefully when it's cured it'll be up to the job!
Fingers crossed!
Had this issue myself when restoring Peters BM6000, only it was the TAPE2 5 pin DIN connector that was broken inside. I inquired if anyone had any replacements but got no takers so like yourself I had to resort to epoxy. These are clearly a weakness and I'm wondering if Rudy may be interested in the fabrication of some new ones with his 3D printing technique?
