Oh WOW.  I love your collection of cars.  I'd love to sit on that couch and just take it all in.  You could mix up a martini with that Gordon's Gin (my favourite btw).

I think you have given me some Inspiration!

Hi Michael,

Gin Martini, ain’t it great that they are back in fashion? You are welcome to have a seat on the sofa, anything.

Trust me on this, with so much stuff in one place you get sensory over-load. It is kind of exhausting, so the Gin Martini is a great idea.

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Steffen,

You are most welcome, glad you liked my little collection.

The ONLY reason people have “collections” like this is to share their passion with others.

And thanks for noticing my pride and joy jukebox, we go a long way back. It’s “claim to fame” is it was used in a movie with Robert Wagner “Beyond the 12 Mile Reef.” This M100B is exactly the same age as I am, so I had to buy it, had it almost 30 years.

Three transcontinental moves and at one point I featured it in my retail shop where the kids just loved playing tunes on it, for FREE, of course.

And like my B&O collection, there is no one around to repair this jukebox and I hear it is the only functional jukebox on Vancouver Island, so I have had to learn to make repairs myself, which are MUCH easier than any B&O repair.

Back to the media room, initially I was bummed to have to schlep ALL that stuff up our narrow staircase and shoehorn it into such an inappropriately small space. But ‘big time” surprise it really worked out well.

I have a light controller from the seventies so with the pressing of a few buttons, various lights come on and dim to whatever level fits the mood, we settle into those cheap but unforgivably comfortable chairs and get completely engulfed in the surround sound that comes from in front with the Linns and from behind with the McIntosh ML-2’s. The sound is quite astonishing!

Even the BeoCenter 9000 and its S 75 speakers sound better in this room than it did in the living room.

The beauty of all this is, none of it was planned; the rearrangement was forced on us. Truly an unexpected Happy Ending!

Jeff

On your Wall of B&O, are all of those connected up where they can be used?

Thank you guys, for the kind Words. Big Smile

@ sonavor: No - they are not all connected. Actually - at the moment i only use the BeoSystem 6500 in the bar -with the Penta's.

My plan is to use the Beosystem 5000 with the Beovox RL 6000's - and the Beosystem 6000/8000 with the Beovox MC 120.2's. But they need new foam surrounds for the woofers.

But I'm thinking about some kind of "switch-box" to switch between speakers and amps, if such a thing exists.
I know there are speaker switch boxes, where you can connect several sets of speakers to one amp and switch between them. (B&O once made one for the stores, as mentioned in a thread here on Beoworld).
But is  there such a thing to switch between several different amps and sets of speakers..?

@Jeff: Yes - a nice Little jukebox replica with build in CD player. It's only there for the looks - and it looks good Big Smile

I will enjoy the music -that's for sure Big Smile

Hi Steffen,

Yes there are switch boxes for both amps and speakers. I have two Switchcraft boxes, but there are numerous other brands.

Switching between amps will probably require a specialty box, the kind dealers used to use in their demonstration rooms.

I know that McIntosh used to have such a switching consol in all their larger showrooms. The trick is finding one of these gems.

Hi Steffen

My worst ever nightmare, was that I couldn't be there to inaugurate your BeoBar in May when I was in DK, What a beautiful museum and Bar. Jealous yes, and a lot of compliments, just what every vintage enthusiast craves and needs.

Here for the connections of speakers and amps, I have one of these, but you will need more to combine, should be possible to find these in Europe-

Steffen:

Yes, I have been considering this one.  It has volume controls on it though, which I'm not sure I want. However, it accepts up to 12 gauge speaker wire which is something I want in my application (and the price looks pretty good).

There is also this one. It is more expensive but I think I like it better.

I have one of these and have used it for about three years. It's price is good and it has never given me any trouble. I use it in my workshop.  It accepts up to 14 gauge speaker wire.

All of the above switchers only accept two sources though.  There is another brand I found that claims it can do multi-sources to two speakers but I will have to find that link and send it to you.

While I was posting my reply, Søren posted his.  His link is for the same brand as my second link but that is the one I was going to try and find - where multi-sources can switch to two speakers.  It also claims to support up to 12 gauge wire.

The manufacturer web site for those switch boxes is Technolink.  I wonder if they are good?  You say you have one Søren?

Congrats Steffan! Looks fantastic, I must crack on with a similar project, I'm trying to centralise my collection a bit rather than have it scattered around in cupboards etc.

The units look brilliant on the shelves and you've done a great job to conceal the wiring!

I have the TC 616, and have been using it for several speaker and one amp connection. And several amps to one speaker set.

Connecting speakers directly to an amp or through the switch box, I hear no difference, I even connected 2 pin DIN speaker plugs to the box, to make it easier to connect amps and/or speakers, I have been using it for nearly 2 years now, I recommend it.

I also have the TC 754 preamp and source selector, which I used for my Beosound for just that, preamp with gain control, and I had 2 other sources connected, the 754 came with an AC adapter, I used that one for about 3 month until I found out that it was to small, I had a very faint hum (nearly not audible). A bigger adapter solved this. this is about 6 years ago, and I think the newer ones comes with an adequate adapter. I used this one for about 4 years and now use it in the workshop when a preamp is needed. When using the preamp, the ground connection is important, BG to preamp, preamp to amp.

John you mentioned that you use 12 gauge speaker wire, why so big, I use 18 gauge up to 10 meter runs (the longest I ever needed).

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

It's overkill but I have a case where I need to run speaker cable a little over 30 feet from one of my 200W amplifiers. Although I probably will never drive it that high, I would like to know that I could. I was planning on running 14/4 gauge. Most of the time I use 16 and 18 gauge though.
