I heard these but could not justify spending £60,000. They sounded to me like a cinema, a cinema ticket costs £10.

It was a big heavy strong sound, 6 large woofers with an amp each, dozens of tweeters and mids.

It did not sound like real life performance.

I could get that sound for £2,000 - £5,000 with top end vintage 1970's amps and speakers and modern active subwoofers.

Or proffessional audio bands use.

You have already mentioned in another thread how you think Yamaha NS-1000Ms and a B-2 power amplifier are better than Beolab 5s so maybe the sound of B&O speakers is just not for you?

As it happens, my house is full of hi-fi - half of it is B&O and the other half is high quality Japanese items, mainly Yamaha, so I am in an excellent position to compare the two! For the last few years I have in fact been using a Yamaha CX-10000 preamplifier and MX-800 power amplifer to run Mowgan Audio Ogma loudspeakers as my main system and this sounded wonderful. However, it doesn't even compare to the Beolab 90s and, believe me, they are only "big, heavy and strong" sounding when they need to be.

As an aside, one thing I did not expect the BL90s to do was to increase the amount of classical music I listen to. They are the first loudspeakers i have ever had in my house that can properly get to grips with not only the dynamics of a crescendo, but the subtletly and spatiality of quieter material.

Thats not good yamaha power amp or speakers to compare to.

My Pioneer SA-9500 with Ditton 44 speakers eat the Beolab 5's alive.

B&O is more about style than sound quality.

I've owned both of these and I'm pretty sure they don't. In fact, I'm completely sure! As I said, it just seems that you don't like the B&O 'house sound' which is fine.

But did you use youtube as source using high quality DAC and then play live acoustic videos. Beolab 5 would miss so much detail.

What on earth is this? You have had three separate identities in the last few days including G7trader and Bob. Now you are EsaChica. You post a ridiculously unnecessary and offensive post on Kiran’s thread. And you are constantly slating B&O. You are simply out to wind people up and not be in the least bit constructive. If ever there was a time for the Moderators to act this is it.

If you continue to "Wind Members up" then I will disable your ability to post.

Having a discussion with different views is normal, winding people up is not friendly.

The return of flappo/PaulW.

Probably! They are/were different people though. ‘Bob Marley’ (flappo?) seems now to have identified himself as living in Leicester. I think Paul W. lives /lived in his parents basement in Chester, but pretended to be in London and/or travelling the world. A 'Pipe and Slippers’ mention somewhere will confirm all.

P.S. We shouldn't be too sensitive about negative or clearly idiotic posts. Most people see them for what they are and can either just ignore them or rise to the bait as required.
