New audio engine was confirmed in the B&O press release of the Balance. No NL was announced to the dealers at Balance launch, but after dealer feedback management changed their minds and put NL on the new audio engine roadmap (confirmed by dealers such as B&O Manchester).

For something launching in 2 days, we seem to know very little. I still can't work out if it's another standalone speaker (wall speaker?) or small soundbar or TV speaker of some kind. Mind you, at €1500, very unlikely. At first I thought it was a cheaper Stage, which made sense.
Also... looking at this link https://webshop.telegrootgebruik.nl/product/376915/beosound-level-wood-front-cov-light-oak it's not only going to distributes by the B1 shops but also through the new distribution channels by TechData (basically any IT/computer store)
Indeed, that ia all true.
Its the (slow) speed of implementing something for the Balance that is problematic (in my opinion)
Especially when you consider how quickly after launch the dealers provided feedback and the company issued that communication.
Being the cynical realist that I am, that statement from B&O always seemed to me like a holding statement, and so it has proved. We're not far from 1 year from release now!
And I suspect the ambiguity over the new multi-room platform is precisely because B&O were nowhere near delivering anything.

I'm only the messenger... The A9 is listed under Telepony Accessoires... Probably because it has bluetooth
@steve1977 the new audio engine debuted in the balance. The one in the Level should be 100% identical. What we still expect is new features not only released with the software of this new audio engine.

What new audio engine? I own an Edge, Stage (x2), Balance, BeoSound 1 and BeoSound 2 (x2!). We'll have another debate another day on why I need so many wireless speakers...
Point is, I'm in a good position having owned an A9 MK1 and A6 to give a good opinion on the best sound. Discounting the A9 for a moment, which is frankly amazing, the BeoSound 2 completely trumps the sound from the Balance. It's far more balanced and rounded. I noticed after switching from using a BS2 for a year to the Balance. Balance sounded odd in the mid-range. Went back to the BS2 and immediately it felt an upgrade. Bass nearly as strong, but the mid-range just sounds more natural.
Will be interesting to hear the Level. The A6 didn't do it for me. Small flat speakers have a limited range.

I’m always amazed at your comments comparing the BS2 & Balance. I own a BS2 Gen2 and when the Balance came out I was wondering what I was missing since the Balance has Room Comp & way more drivers and power... but as it turns out I’m not missing anything!
Even my dealer said that they feel that the Balance is more for just filling a room with music whereas the BS2 is better for critical listening.
I do love my BS2 a lot though, and I’ve always felt that it’s more of a BeoLab than BeoSound speaker; heck in some cases I even prefer it over the BeoLab 17’s, and that’s one hell of a commendation given how underrated the 17’s are. It really puts the Balance in a weird spot though; it would be fine if it looked better than the BS2 but it doesn’t. So for me the only way up from the BS2 that’s not a BeoLab is the A9 if you have the floor space to sacrifice.

The launch is planned for tomorrow so we'll quickly see what the Level is :

Concerning the NL and its future, I don't see B&O releasing something that replace it, if it's phased out it's just because the general public don't use it and prefer Airplay/Googlecast/Bluetooth. The question about a Beovision able to use a beosound as external speaker is interesting, but as the use is limited to speakers around a Beovision (Idon't see the point otherwise), you can still buy speakers without this functionality for a lot of places around your house where you only listen to music!
I've just had a glimpse of the Level, and I love it.. Really classy

Tell us more please... Any price idea? I guess that the wooden model will cost a lot more compared to the fabric one.

See my reply here:
BeoAnna: Price potentially acquired. http://www.lpcomputers.cz/beosound-level-goldtone-alu-light-oak-ga_d181207.aspx “Cena bez DPH” = Price without VAT. This is for Part Number “1200497” with the wood, so presumably the fabric version will be cheaper? 35 247.27 CZK to USD = 1,642 USD. Not too bad I say!

Duels:B&O must be pretty pleased with themselves. They actually get to launch a product on the date they have chosen without too much information getting out beforehand to dilute the launch.
+1
Maybe it's just because there are a lot of people everywhere awaiting any news from Apple, where there are less and less old people with hats interested in what's the next B&O bluetooth speaker...
Old people with hats? Don't you mean tweed jackets, pipes and slippers?

Excellent new product! Good design... fantastic features! The wood version is drooling good looking.
I hope that this is a seller!

Interesting thing about it lasting longer than any other connected speaker (from The Verge) :
Central to this modularity is the Beosound Level’s streaming module, which houses the speaker’s digital signal processing (DSP) chip, wireless connectivity tech, and antenna array. It’s B&O’s first speaker to use it, but the company says it won’t be the last; it’ll be standardized across its future lineup of home speakers. B&O says there’s enough processing headroom in the hardware that ships with the Beosound Level that it should be able to handle updates in the immediate future. But when the hardware reaches its limit, the company plans to offer an upgrade service for users who are prepared to send their device in to the company to have the streaming module replaced.
This plus an easily replaceable battery is a great thing.

I’m 100% sold. This is jaw-dropping. This is such a perfect blend of modern and classic design and I particularly love the black strip with the illuminated lights behind them as they remind me of the BeoMaster systems of the past.
This is honestly one of the most B&O designs I’ve seen in an extremely long time. Couldn’t be happier! Well done!

I agree. A really nice touch and I too think this is a great product design that no doubt will sound fantastic. Very happy for B&O and hope to see many sales. I will buy one for my main bedroom. Great job guys.

Connected Speakers is the name for all speakers with CC/AP2 (has been for a while), as opposed to the Bluetooth-only speakers.
Ah ok - though it doesn't say the same thing in the Balance spec / product sheet.
That may just be an oversight, and it should be in the Balance sheet.
Back in my box then...
