I rather like this concept but why can't this be the light switch and run other simple operations ?(maybe it's me but I don't go to bed with my phone and in the mornings I'm too sleepy, bleary eyed and clumsy to operate small keys and my dressing gown doesn't have a phone pocket)

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

More and more I'm thinking that they found inspiration in the Bose SoundTouch Controller... But why did they forgot the small oled screen which would have made the BS Essence's remote even more beautiful and very practical?

Good point. They make this remote thing to put on the table -but why didn't they put a small display in it like others do..?

Seems like they have forgotten the 'magic' that once made B&O something special.

If it can be controlled by my phone or tablet -then why should I buy this aluminum thing and put on my table..? ;-)

I wasn't talking about the Essence replacing the Beosound 5. There is a product in line which will replace the Beosound 5.

Or have you been talking about this other "not named" Product as well?

There is no product due to come out to replace the BeoSound 5 in the roadmap shown to the dealers. I think it is now established that there may be a new audio system coming in 2014, but if it does it will not replace where BeoSound 5 sits at the top of the audio range.

I hope I haven't just breached my contract there!

Omg, a black 4x4 just pulled up outside!....

I'd be personally very disappointed if you got a warning for offering generic release information. Besides, it's nothing more than you can get from your dealer, by talking to him in person!

It's good to have a vague idea of what's coming from B&O. Let's face it, we're all keen to buy, but due to the price structure, it's more of a major commitment, so takes longer to make a purchasing decision. It took me a while to get around to purchasing the BL18s, for example.

Seriously? A tablet?

*Brainstorming in Ideal Land*   "Let's bring out a tablet, where our users can see/store their music on... and then stream it to our speakers"  "Yes.. let's do that... there's no product on the market that can do this! And maybe the MKII version can stream movies to our TV's too!"

There must be some kind of strange substance in the water in Struer...

Anyway.. The BeoSound Essence looks like a real nice system.. Very minimalistic.. Like it a lot. Have to see it one of these days...

I would have liked the base plate, table top version to have had a headphone jack ....

But that would have added significant (perhaps) electronics and additional batteries/ charger 😞

I think B&O's answer to that would be to use the other device in your hand such as your iPhone? I am not overly impressed with the sound output level from my iPhone 5. EU please allow me to blow up my eardrums if I want!

We could all benefit from more traffic to the store!

I like B&O's approach with launching the Essence at CES, it gets people talking well in advance of it reaching the shop floor.

No one stores 'music' on a tablet nowadays.

It is either on a local Computer/Mac or on a Nas - or in the Cloud (Spotify and co.).

I would say:

The 'BeoPad (if it comes?) is just an Essence-'knob' and a tablet (with a descent app/interface) in one.

A huge remote control that - some of us - have been waiting for for long.

Works exactly the same way as the Essence, but gives you more control of what you are playing.

But - we really don't know much about it - at least not I.

Yep, why use ios, android or wp8...

... when you can come up with something yourself!

Sorry, but there is no need for a tablet from B&O.

Just good apps to control a good device!

Some will agree to that - others won't.

I am sure there will be more to a 'BeoPad' than 'just a tablet'.

Otherwise they would not make it!

Over here in the States there is a control buried in the Utilities menu that lets you turn off headphone volume limits, do you not have those in the EU?

Beosound 9000, Beolab 8000, Beogram 3000 w/MMC2, CX50, P30, Beovox 3000, Beocord 3300, Beocord 2000, AV7000, Beolab 2000', Beolink Passive, Beo5 and Beo4s, Beolab 6000, H6, Form 2, Beolink Wireless, Beotime

Hi Jeff

You can turn off the EU limit but max just isn't loud enough for my ears? I am sure my iPhone 4 was louder. When I plugged the H6 into the headphone socket on a BeoSound 4 I was blown away, just feel a bit disappointed with portable devices.

Ah, I see. I know what you mean, while the iPad (1) and iPhone (4) I have will drive my wife's H6's, they won't drive them very loudly. My Form 2's work better with the small devices but even they aren't as efficient as some earbuds.

Try the H6's on an iPad etc, mine are much better when used with a mini iPad. I'm currently using a Lumigon T2 phone which has a B&O ICE chip or something inside, and thats much clearer and punchier. Not once have i had to raise the volume anywhere near max.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Looking forward to the latest version, which is due immanently and should be right up to date. The T2 is great, but showing its age.

The sound quality with Spotify is better than the Iphone 5S, but the 5S has better reception so kept the music running longer in areas of bad reception.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

@ millemissen and @ kallasr The new audio system will be not an iPad or a tablet. I never wrote that. It is a BeoPad. It looks like but it is different. 👍

I did not refer to anything, that some one may have written - those were my own thoughts about it.

Looking forwards to see WHAT is coming.
