Hi all!

I got a second hand DVD2 and am excited to start using it ( can't open the tray for the DVD for some reason, seems to be stuck, but following another thread about that question)

I saw this Multi Region Fix on the product page here on Beoworld and tried to enter it, but seems I am out of luck here also…Maybe I am doing something wrong?

This is what it says on the product page here on Beoworld:

As this machine is a repackaged Philips, it is easy to make multi region. Go to the Browse page with no DVD in the drive by pressing GO + 0 and enter the code. Don't wait too long between each number!
(Ok, I did press GO+0 and I get to the browser page showing the Harddrive and DVD, so far so good)

The code is GO 159 12 12 12 005 255 GO
(When on the browser page I press GO and then the code, but the digits don't show up on the display as it says below. Instead it starts changing channels on the built in tuner, so I never see the digits and when I confirm with GO, nothing happens, of course..)

Watch the digits on the player's LCD display as you key them in. When finished, go to standby and the next time you turn the player on it's ready.

What am I doing wrong? any ideas or experiences about this?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi MM,

Well, I have checked that.. and its not.. Thanks for reminding me to check that though..!

I was hoping for some kind of meny where I could see the numbers I type in, but nothing, just swtching channels as i punch in the numbers.
I also tried to have either the DVD or the Harddrive menu choices highlighted in the Browser menu, but the same results...no go.. :(

I guess there is something missing in the instructions or I have misunderstood the whole thing..or maybe there are different software versions on the DVD2?

I think it is more that there were not that many DVD2s sold, and in the UK, not many needed to be multi-region as we, on the whole, buy them locally  and get the right region. There will be some who have done this however and hopefully someone will be along!

Peter:

The code is GO 159 12 12 12 005 255 GO
(When on the browser page I press GO and then the code, but the digits don't show up on the display as it says below. Instead it starts changing channels on the built in tuner, so I never see the digits and when I confirm with GO, nothing happens, of course..)

I don't think the instructions you have found are quite correct. The following is the procedure as I know it:-

  1. Disk tray closed and no disc
  2. Set DVD 2 to ‘tuner mode’ (press ‘EXIT’ or ‘BACK’ in any menu/browser).
  3. Invoke HDD Browser. (Press ‘GO’ and ‘0’), place the cursor on ‘Hard Disk’.
  4. Press ‘GO’ wait for IR-indicator to flash and enter immediately 159121212005 XXX then ‘GO’.
  5. There is no indication that the region code is changed, so the technician has to try if the change was succesful or not (using a commercial DVD with the desired region code).

XXX table:
001 = region code 1
002 = region code 2
003 = region code 3
004 = region code 4
005 = region code 5
006 = region code 6

Regards Keith....

Hi Keith and Peter,

Well, I'm home and ready to try this…but just wanted to double check if "255" actually means "Region Free" ? If somethings goes wrong, can I just go back to the original settings ( reg. 2) easily?

I also found online a way to change regions on my DVD1, which ended up to make any DVD's impossible to play.. Is there a secret code to reset that?

Thanks!

/Peter

HI again!

Very excited here..I took the chance and followed the instructions from Keith, and it worked fine!!

255 seems to be "region free".

Important notice is to be very quick to insert the code after the blinking response after pressing "Go".

Thanks a lot for the assistance! :)

/P
