I own a MK2 and I'm looking into the necessity of upgrading the software to allow for N.MUSIC and N.RADIO-functionality as the BS9000 will be part of a larger setup involving Multiroom.

On the archived forum I found a link to a now gone manual on chip replacement, made by Keith.

Would anyone know if this info is still available online? The link is broken.

Furthermore, is it advantageous and worth the hassle to add the extra source functionality for the sake of the Multiroom setup, or should I just let it be as is? I'm thinking in terms of mapping sources and buttons via the BLC.

Your opinion is appreciated.

let it be..................

in a NL multiroom system it isn't necessary to have the capability of the ML NRadio/NMusic sources. Note: you do not have extra sources - NMusic=ATape2 and NRadio=Phono.

Is this the link you were referring to in your first post? https://www.beoworld.org/faq_view.asp?id=75

AFAIK, there's more to N.MUSIC and N.RADIO than just selecting the source - it never worked with my BC9500 using ATAPE2 or PHONO!

"true" in a ML system

Because the BC9500 had physical IN for A.Tape2 and Phone, so the processor of the BC9500 would open this port and not to the ML system. B&o never claimed it would work with the BC9500 (only on the BS4, BS9000, BS3000, .....; )

I ordered the chipupgrade from my dealer.

It costs 100 Euros including shipping.

It comes with minor instructions, the change is really simple.

It upgrades the software to 2.2x.

Now N.MUSIC and N.RADIO are shown in the display instead of PHONO and A.TAPE, but keep in mind it does not add any new A.OPTIONS (5,6) which could be esssential for  your multiroomsetup.

Yes, I know!  I was (badly) trying to make the point that B&O also never claimed it would work on BS9000 Mk1!!

Anyway, to the OP - this may be useful: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/media/p/1650.aspx

Thanks, Guy. Sadly, no that is not the link. The link is supposed to be a step-by-step guide to chip replacement. Since it is from the archivedforum, the link longer works.

Are options 5 or 6 crucial to getting it to work with an NL/ML converter?

NO

depending how the BS9000 is connected, option 0,1,2 will do

Wow I just saw the instructions in the link by Keith.

I'm not capable of carrying out such a procedure.

I'm quite glad I found a Mk3...

I agree, I think the money is well spent on a technician. I can have a drink or three comfortably with calm

conscience in the meantime.
