7-55 Mk1 v Mk2

Just a quick question, is there any difference in the quality of the image between the 2 marks? I understand the Mk2 has 3D and a quicker BluRay player, but apart from that?

The panel in the MK2 has an overall better picture quality.

We are not talking miles apart, but it is a little better.

I'm not sure about the panel differences, but my local dealer used a BV7-55 MKI for their cinema demo, with BL5s. Was impressed with the picture. They then swapped it out for a MKII, with 3D, and I remember being really impressed with the picture - better than the BV11. No doubt this uses the best possible panel available, plus local LED lighting, which massively affects the black-levels and clouding (there isn't any on the BV7-55) effects you get from side-lit panels like the BV11.

If I had the space, I'd get a BV7-55 MKII. Space was always my issue. A floor-standing BV7-55 isn't small!

I have a 7-55 Mk 2. The major improvements in the Mk2 were the addition of more LED bulbs in the backlighting panel to reduce the clouding issue, and the addition of 3D capability. Contrary to some comments here, the BV7-55 does experience some clouding in very dark scenes of some movies, but it is easy to live with.
