Beomaster 1000 integration with iPhone AirPlay

Hi all,

I just wanted to share with you that I just finishing project that allow use iPhone to send music via home WIFI and Shairport AirPlay application working on Raspberry Pi.  

So for doing that, you will just need Raspberry Pi, WIFI Router, iPhone (sender), WIFI dongle (optional) and Amplifier (receiver) in my case it's Beomaster 1000.

So first you will need to install on Raspberry Pi Raspbian which is Debian OS for this little guy. It’s quite strait forward instruction

Next if you want to get rid of the cables you also will need WIFI dongle. Here is instructions how to do this.

So if you have your Pi ready you need to install Shairport AirPlay application. This tutorial will create AirPlay service on your Pi that allow streaming audio from iPhone application (TuneIn, WiMP, YouTube, iTunes …) in to receiver device.

So name of shairport receiver on your iPhone should be “ShairPort 1892 on raspberrpi” so for changing this you will need to do fallowing things.

Changing name of Shairport service:
sudo su
cd /etc/init.d
./shairport stop
cd /usr/local/bin
nano shairport.pl

Code:
my $apname = " change it to what you want ";

cd /etc/init.d
./shairport start
You should now see the new AP name that you created.

Last thing that you need to do, is buy or make your own cable connector “Speaker DIN 2 Plug” -> “Jack Plug“ and connect RaspberryPi to your receiver.

I hope that you will find no problems with doing so. Next thing is to stream Full HD video (1080p).

I guess this would be more suited for the BeoMac subforum though, so we might decide to move the thread later - look there if it seems to have gone from the general forum!

Linn have done it for years and sell extra backboxes to improve sound,also there is a company called artcoustic that put paintings over the speakers.

I am sure there is another company ,that makes a speaker invisable,as you put a thin layer of plaster over it and paint as usual.There is so much competition in this bracket,home cinema installs have used them for years.I personally think b&o speakers should be on show and active.
