I fear I shall disappoint Lee with my "review".

The Melbourne event & therefore review was more of a social event -- and a very successful one by the Emerald Group, the new B&O franchisee in Australia.

Firstly it was the end of a wired weather day as I made my way through the city to be welcomed at ... The Denmark House !

The event was held in a large loft party space with well in excess of 100 warm water containers absorb sound whilst they and their glasses generated a great hubbub.

The great & the good were present (Mr & Mrs Smith were photo-ed as they arrived but I was not Angry), the glitterati, the press, B&O staff, and some BeoWorlders.

Eventually there were speeches that could barely be heard, followed by the manufacturing video clip that got some applause, followed by the lifting of black cloth to unveil the speakers, followed by a track that almost achieved a stunned silence.

THAT was followed by applause !

And a second, classical track, that was less powerful given the return to reactions from the first track, people pressing forward for a look, and some photos, and general gossip & drinking. And did I mentioning the drinking ?

Anyway that was almost it Indifferent

I left with the party still in full swing with maybe 45 minutes of legs on it.

In summary, for the first track the experience was outstanding. And the second probably was too ...

I will go to the store to hear them again (I had said I would have no truck with them Embarrassed)

And I am sure I will be tortured for years to come with the regret that could not afford them ...

Well done B&O !

A great product to cap a wonderful 90 years.

And well done to the new local owners Yes - thumbs up

Photos will follow !

Arriving at the event ...

Professional PR greeters and a guard of honour from 1925 until today ...

(He is one of the guests ... Not a guard!)

Upstairs was the gathering ...

With speeches from the Emerald Group

And Paul Vink from Struer ...

( a very nice guy - long term B&O "lifer")

The big moments ...

The TV clip

The unveiling

And the sound ( I "filmed" 60 seconds of that moment)

Thank you for taking the time to post your report and pictures. I'm eagerly awaiting a US West Coast dealer to get these babies in and have a listen.

Be prepared to be amazed.

They suggested you bring your own music for the tests !

Congrats, elephant, but how many wifes do you have if the photos shows "2 of them"? Big Smile

Perhaps as my legal wife was with our grandchildren they were my other wives ?

Devil

What I meant was two of us had left our wives at home and two had come with theirs.

Mine did say that if she had known Mumm was the champagne of choice that night then she might have changed her mind.

Nice post there Ed I have just seen it today.

I thought perhaps that you were overseas and saw the BL90.

Great to see the hospitality via pictures and pity B&O didn't extend the invitation to their other customers as it would have been good to see them.

The invitations were controlled by the Emerald Group - I luckily popped into the store on the day and they squeezed me into the list.

However I do think that you and Cliff as an Avant owner etc etc etc ! SHOULD have been included.

Opening number ... http://www.shazam.com/track/140675218/no-sanctuary-here

On YouTube it seems hi fi enthusiasts use this track to demo their equipment.

Go figure.

I very much hope that the opening number was the original Chris Jones song, and not the heavily processed re-mix version of it by Marian Herzog to which your link points...

The version should be the same as this one

BTW: I hope that this does not mean that I will be saddled with the label "hi fi enthusiast"...

Cheers

Geoff, I am sure the Struer team would stick to your script, however if they were relying on the blonde DJ then I would have doubts πŸ’ƒπŸ‘―

Geoff, it might be best if you add "unenthusiastic about hi-fi" to your signature - just to be on the safe side Big Smile

I just listened to the Beolab 90 at Collins Street and I think they are amazing in design and in sound. They are a great size. Gaz says to me "we could have no chairs and just 2 speakers in the room " lol.

I was surprised and pleasantly so.

They're amazing.
