Only for iPhone - why?
I use my iPad Mini on the go for music with headphones.
Why not make it 'universal'?

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Pretty cool app. You can select tone mode, volume etc etc
You must update A2 before you can use the app!
Ok - does it 'only' work with the bluetooth devices - and not with the headphones out?
Hahaha, for a second I thought there will be a similar functionality like a Mood Whell so I wanted to jump through the roof. But nonetheless, ok to get an update.
Not sure I will be using Beoplay app as I anyway need to stream from Deezer app so... ...well, someone is going to like it. :)
I updated my black BeoPlay A2 to the latest software version (9.2.7) with the BeoPlay Software Update tool on Windows 10. Then connected to the A2 with the new BeoPlay App.
The app itself does not bring very much in my opinion, but the very good news is that the whole process including updating works flawlessly and more important, you are now able to change the Bluetooth name of your device. So when you have more then one A2, you can now easily see to which A2 you are connecting. Also very convenient for shops I suppose, where I always have difficulty trying to connect to the right device.

Lucky you... With mine the updating process crashed immediately and after it the Beolit 15 refused to start again. No reaction. Dead. Even when plugged to the main, the charging led didn't react. It's back to the shop and I'll have a new one in some days under warranty.
I received right now a new replacement from the shop I bought it (not a BO store). I tried to download the update and.... exactly the same happend! DEAD!!!
I think I'm definitely out of B&O world....
Im curious to why this doesnt work with B&O play headphones. Although, I have to say its awesome to have this for the Beolit 15, I can't wait to try it out. Sometimes I find the BeoLit 15 too bass heavy, its not always a good thing :-).
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

Perhaps you should use another computer? It sounds like it cuts communication while flashing firmware or that you do something wrong.
i have given up on this
it does not recognise i have an A6 ( playing beautifully as i opened the app )
i turn on the bluetooth as requested , tell the app which product i have and it says .." to set up my A9 ...."
wish i had one !
done this every single time i try

The A2 worked flawlessly for me, but I'm experiencing the same problem as you Davieiv with my A6. The app needs work. My A6 is on and playing and the BeoPlay app doesn't see it. Just checked, and the SW for the A6 is current. Oh well. It is fine just as it is.
I'm curious why B&O chose to release a separate app, rather than integrating some of the functionality into already existing apps? BeoMusic, BeoRemote, BeoSetup, BeoPlay, I'd really find it refreshing not to have so many separate apps, rather than one single "BeoCentral / BioControl" App which can do what all of these do in one place.

It worked on the same computer with an 'old' Beolit 15 (gold color) but it didn't twice with the new silver one! So I don't do anything wrong. It stucks immediately when I press continue to start the update... and I instantly have the message telling to reconnect and try again.... I wanted 2 Beolit 15 to use as stereo. But I'll give up.

I agree with this. It is not exactly clear what to use which app for. The Beoplay app seems more or less a Beosetup for Bluetooth devices.

You should just ask your dealer to update it before you leave the shop.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

For the record the app only works with A2 & BeoLit 15 currently. It's designed only for the BT only products. Not products that support Wifi + BT. The idea is that the Wifi products will in most cases be on a network and therefore have access to the portal for updating. Not sure if the BT headphones will get the ability to talk to the app or not. In the app description it tells you what products it's compatible with currently.
Seems like the update brought battery indication for Beolit 15 over bluetooth as well. But not displayed in the iOS notification center or up by the bluetooth symbol as the H8 does. I hope B&O adds this in future updates so we don't have to look for a red light on the back of beolit 15 :).

Thanks for that, it helps. The interesting thing is that if you click + the choices you're given include the A6 and almost all of the BeoPlay line. The home screen, though, does only show outlines for the A2 and Beolit 15.

In its current form for an A2 it seems a case of "Much Ado About ..." vey little
Still it was nice to label the A2 with SWMBO's name; and just was not fussed by the tone control.

Will be fun to see what the BL90s will look like in my living room :)
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
We're gonna need a separate "flash your B&O" thread to separate real from imagined set-ups!!
Its not compatible with my 2 years old ipad!!!!!!
Can not intall it:-(
Your iPad must be older than that :)
It is supposed to work on an iPad Air (launched October 22, 2013)

It is 'heavy stuff' that you are moving around - you'll need a powerfull iPad ;-))
I tried it. The first impression is that the app starts upside down and doesn't agree to rotate. Oh well, it probably will be easier to use with the camera lens in an upper corner anyway, so I rotate the piePad.
I of course want to try the augmented reality feature at once to see how my future BL90 pair will look in the kitchen. I know it probably would work better with the special marker page, but I don't have a printer at home. Fortunately it appers to be able to use (any?) magazine as a reference, so I place one on the floor and select "magazine". The camera turns on and the app asks me to "center the marker on the screen". Hey, I already told you I don't have one. I can't get the app to register anything. I'll try again at work on Monday.
I didn't try the room planner yet as I don't have any more time right now.

Tried the app last night and added an A9 and a pair of BL90s in my living room
Quite easy.
Wanted to continue today but now the app just says "wait" after adding a product and then seem to hang. Bug och server overload?
Hi
If you don't have a Marker/Magazine then you can tap on the 'No' icon and you will be able to place BeoLab 90s. The scale will not be as accurate but hopefully it will give you a good idea what it will look like.
The feedback in your post has been really helpful and by the end of the week amendments in the app will help clarify some of the issues you were having.

Hi,
Sadly it doesn't work with the slightly older iPads as there is quite of processing power is needed to deliver a good performance. Looking down the line with future updates we needed to focus on the newer models.
I glad you had a good initial experience, the developers have noted the issue and are trying to recreate the issue to find the bug. Thanks for the feedback.
Does anyone know if the app communicates with the DSP in e.g the A2?
When I have adjusted the sound in my A2, using the app, the A2 stays with that sound setting even if the app is not activated next time I play from my iDevice.
The app has been updated for the A1 and also the H7 and H8.
However, there's still no support for the S3. Is the S3 the forgotten child of the Beoplay speaker range?
I take it back! There is now updated software for the S3 so it can work with the Beoplay app. I've just updated mine.
I just updated my H8s´s to the new firmware. They now sound different when switching ANC on and off. They make a "bliblipp" noise in both earphones at once. Before they seemed to enable on one earphone at a time and without the same noise. The ANC can be enabled and disabled in the BeoPlay companion app as well - but its buggy so turning it off doesn't work, it just enables ANC when it is already enabled, but it states "off". But the best thing of course is that you now can set the sound profile to your liking. There's been a lot of talk about H8 being too bass heavy (even though I think it changed in an earlier firmware - according to my ears). But now you can pick your favorite sound profile :D.
It's a very good update. The noise cancellation toggle works fine for me, though.

In the App? it works fine with the controls my headphones, but not in the app.
Yes, it works fine for me in the app.
