Hello,

I recently installed the configuraion tool v6 to my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit laptop. I hooked up the beo5 via USB and tried to manually pick where to install driver (drivers folder in Band & Olufsen folder) but it keeps coming up with an error when I select it. Any ideas? Thanks,

Diggs,

Whilst B&O have released the new version 6 configuration Tool which supports 64 bit machines, BUT only for the Beo6, NOT the Beo5

Also, the Beo6 MUST have its firmware upgraded on a 32 bit machine BEFORE using on a 64 bit machine. The reason is that the current firmware in your Beo6 is still looking to receive data in 32 bit format.

Once your Beo6 has had its firmware upgraded for use on 64 bit machines, theres no going back, well not unless you are very technically knowledgeable.

Regards Keith....

Hi Keith,

So have B&O dropped the support for Beo5, or can the new product configuration files be downloaded to Beo5 Config Tool 5.12 without upgrading the Config Tool software version to 6?

As for Beo6 and Config Tool 6, if I upgrade my remote to Beo6 and get my hands of the Config Tool 6 AND use it on a 32-bit machine, what will happen? Will the firmware be updated to support 64-bit machines in any case, meaning that after uploading the first configuration to Beo6 with Config Tool 6 on a 32-bit machine, I cannot use the machine to make further updates to the Beo6 remote?

Sounds very complicated / hazardous, as there are many Beo5s and also Beo6s & 32-bit machines around...

Having tweaked the Beo5 to my personal taste (and to perfection in that regard), I really do not think my dealer could do the same to a new Beo6. Or perhaps they could, but it would take a lot of time and several visits to the dealer to create the UI I have on the Beo5 currently (dealer makes a version, I test it at home, I take the Beo6 back to the dealer and ask for necessary tweaks... Repeat that going back and forth X times.) It would be most inconvenient for me as a client and to my dealer, who has better things to do (focus on selling!) than to tweak my remote.

So, if I go down the Beo6 route, I'd need to:

- buy the remote
- install the Config Tool 6 to some 32-bit machine and upgrade the firmware
- install the Config Tool 6 to a 64-bit machine / OS to work on it further

Wow. I wonder if it's possible to install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows to a Parallels setup on a Mac... then the whole operation could be done on ONE actual machine.

What is it with B&O and all the complications with their software??

Thank you for all for your help. I do have the Beo5 and was hoping this would work finally with windows 7 and beo5 but I guess I will still have to keep an winXP machine just for this outdated B&O software.

You can use it in WIN7, right click the program BEO5 CT, and just go to preferences, and run it as XP service pack 3.

Hi @ all,

can somebody explain HOW to get the 3.30 Firmware onto Beo6 with 3.00a on it by using the most uptodate software without any B&O Server attached to it meaning 'Work offline'. I read that I need to do in my old XP environment. Was XP 32 bits always? How do I find out? I have a Parallels installation XP Service Pack 3 on my Mac. I like a step by step instruction please to get the 3.3 onto the bl....thing. THX

Thank you very much for your very helpful posting, very much appreciated....if I could have found your 'so called' step-by-step explanation I would not have asked here...there no such explanation which is really clear and quite some questions people asked in-between never answered to...
