The stand is too small for the 40" and in my opinion would be dangerous.
Also, if you did get the bigger 40" screen onto the stand you'd never have room for the speaker below..
I wouldn't bother.

I have been wanting to mount a non-B&O tv on my BV7-32 stand.
I have been concidering a 55" that would match the stand.
The weight of, say a samsung 55" would not be more than the BV7-32.
But it would probably look retarded :P

The stand is controlled by the Beovision itself, so i think it is not possible to control it with a different tv-set on the stand :(
